[REQ] Lightable firewood

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 12:06 pm

I have this request after purchasing a house and all the upgrades and discovering the house still has an empty hearth. And a Nord home isn't complete without a nice warm central hearth! So it'd be nice if we could get a mod that adds the ability to tight cut firewood on fire and have it burn for x amount of time. Either with a mod item like a flint and tinder.. or with a spell or torch. :)

Eventually I'd like to be able to spawn a camp, spend hours in the deep forest hunting deer, come back and cook them up while I cut firewood for the fire. Yes thats right.. I'd actually find this enjoyable. :)

You know you can already light things on fire (like firewood) and it stays burning for a short time. Perhaps just increasing that would work.

But more disturbing I've come to realize that spells do not create light. This is a simple system that should be in every game, I seem to remember it being modded into Oblivion as it wasn't in that game either (or perhaps it was Morrowind, I forget.) So while I'd like to be able to light firewood I'd also like that to produce light in the game. It seems right now that the game engine uses a very old static/dynamic light and shadow technique.

Spells do create light. I have purposely used the flames spell to light up one of the walls in a dungeon so I could solve a puzzle.
