I am using Windows XP. Do I HAVE to upgrade?

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 12:02 pm

Hello. I am able to run Rage but when I move or turn the textures tear/blur.
I am curious. The Rage specs say that you can use Windows XP but I am hearing that it may be optimized for Windows 7.
I can upgrade to Windows 7 but I REALLY LOVE WINDOWS XP MUCH BETTER.
I know that I will eventually have to upgrade but I want to hold off as long as possible.
I play some games that just will not work in Windows 7.
Thanks to anyone for any info.

Join the club. Not using XP personally but if you read around, a lot of people are having a lot of issues with Rage right now.

Rage doesn't require Windows 7.

The Xbox360 and PS3 run it fine with hardware and software as old as XP.

I'd say wait until these various problems get ironed out in the first few weeks. I'm also using XP and while the multiplayer portion of the game runs fine on my system, the single player has never started once. Go figure. Sure XP is old at this point, but it's not unusable yet. But, if things don't get remedied at some point, it might be prudent to upgrade to Win7. I plan on it eventually, to take advantage of DX11 (although really not much use for this game).

From what I've seen on these forums, the issues are shared pretty equally between XP and Windows 7 users. I don't think there's any reason you would HAVE to upgrade to Windows 7.

IDue the game uses OpenGL, I have the same framerate (60 fps) in Windows XP x86 as in Windows 7 64 bits.
Nvidia Geforce 8800GTX + Intel Core2Duo E6600 @ 2,4 Ghz + 4 GB RAM + X-Fi Fatal1ty.
