No CD Key Included

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 12:20 pm

I purchased my game at Target and while it did include the bonus content codes, it has no code for the actual game. Not in or on the manual or anywhere else. It's Blank. Target said they cannot take back the game since it's open and uses an authorization code, they referred me to call the manufacturer. After years of buying games, this is the first time i've seen this happen.

It happens --- either the machine loading the package ran out of code sheets and it was never put in the box or somewhere along the route from production to the store it was opened the code removed and it was resealed with a shrink wrap machine -- thing is it is very difficult to get the manufacturer to believe you when it does happen so good luck !!

This seems to be happening to more people.

Definitely contact customer support (back page of the game manual will have contact information). They should be able to help out whether your card is blank, missing #s, or not working.

Really tough luck, they're really reticent to help with stuff like this because it always sounds like someone trying to get a free code.

Yea, this stinks for anyone it happens too. The code is located right under the CD trays on the inside of the case. I like how they did it, so now I don't have to worry about losing my manual, or some little white disc sleeve. Just kind of whack that some copies didn't have the key at all. Ouch!!!

How the heck do you activate the main game?! - The CD-Key under the discs says 'Invalid Product Code' & the DLC codes says it needs the game first...

I've got one of those game with the cd key missing a digit. i read in the steam forums that you could try every combination of the cd key with another alphanumeric digit [0-9][A-Z] appended to the end, but that didn't work for me either.

They really named this game well... i'm raging!

Threaten to take legal action (small claims court) if they don't take it back LoL.

At least New Zealand has really strong consumer protection laws. Overrides all warranties too.

LOL, i used to work at Gamestop, ive seen that happen pretty often on mass printed titles like the SIMS and CoD. We knew because all our PC games had to be gutted and secured in our Managers room till we got the pretty new cabinets with locks :-)

Damn thieves lol.

Now you know why those unmentionable Steam key sites sell games so cheap. They just steal them!

I bought World Of Warcraft a few years ago from HMV it also had no serial code, I called the help line they said "Nothing To Do With Us, take it back to the shop" I did, and surprisingly HMV swapped it for another copy.

The way things are going at the moment I will be returning RAGE for a refund as it is currently "is not fit for purpose" :-(
