Does lag get progressively worse?

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 8:07 pm

Right now my saved data is at about 9mb so I've got the lag problem.

People are saying it gets worse and worse though. Does this mean restarting the system after 2-3 hours will then have no effect after a while?

Just wrote this in another new thread a minute ago:
The bigger the save file gets (seems to have no limit), the shorter your window of enjoyment gets. It's about 15 mins for me now at a 10 mb save file after the lag gets really annoying.

I made a similar topic and the answers I got were not good.. apparently after a while restarting ps3 only works for like 10 minutes.

Thats what I have been told anyway.

My experience is that it continues to get worse. I haven't got the "inability to activate NPCs/objects" glitches yet, but the framerate now lags pretty bad almost as soon as the game starts, whereas before it took an hour or so before choking up.

What I don't understand is why this is happening to some but not all? My save file is 11MB. I am not experiencing these issues so far. I only play 2 hours at a time. Also, I shut off autosave except on wait.

For me:

At around 7000kb:
2 hours playable per boot

At around 8000kb:
2 hours playable per boot

At around 9000kb:
1 hour playable per boot

At around 10000kb:
20 minutes playable per boot

That's just me, but hopefully that answers your question.

My save file hit 12 MB last night. I have deemed it unplayable until patched.

When I load up the game, there is an almost immediately noticeable lag, even in the wilderness (when I first started seeing lag, it was only in major cities)

It's not much, but it's there. After about 15 minutes there is unplayable lag during any major event (battles with 5+ people), and in any major city.

After about a half hour it's unplayable anywhere.

I have not seen, however, any of the inability to interact with things, thankfully.

Other things I've seen:

I left the Companions building, and the ledge with the skyforge on it failed to load properly and anything (including the blacksmith) fell down into nothingness.

I was in a tavern doing a dark brotherhood contract. I talked to the bard, then I went over and killed my guy stealthily. Everyone noticed the guy died, but didn't know it was me. I looked over and there was someone else standing next to the bard. I went over and there was a duplicate of the bard standing right next to him. I tried talking to him, and they both looked at me and started talking.

And countless deaths caused by lag spikes.

I still love the game. But if Bethesda doesn't have it fixed within a couple weeks (or at least acknowledge they are working on anything other than the 360 texture issues and PC issues), then I will be genuinely upset.

This is exactly how it is for me as well. I've trudged through more of the game and now have a 12MB file. The framerate is roughly 10fps as soon as I boot up the game.

For me it's more like:

7000kb - 6 hours playable
8000kb - 5 hours playable
9000kb - 4 hours playable
10000-11000kb - 3 hours so far. Also cities are a lagfest, not problems in wilderness yet though.
