explanation for a few ini variables

Heya, as allways i welcome and love the modability of TES engines so i immediatly went to the ini and with great success allready managed to make a stable and grafic improving .ini .however i came across a few variables that never seem to make any difference ingame and was wondering if any dev might could explain a little.

b30GrassVS=0 (what does it do if set to 1?)

The bShadowsOnGrass=1 does not seem to work either, is it entirely impossible to have shadows be drawn on grass in skyrim? or is a different cariable needed

Is there a possibility to seperate the dependency of shadow resolution to shadow draw distance? it seems a little odd that one has to decide between blocky shadows or only 5 meters of shado casting at all, if you want smooth shadow edges.

I hope those questions will be awnsered, if not ill just have to experiement on on my own :(
