Is country music for ponies?

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 12:11 am

I've been listening to quite a bit of country music lately, but my intensely satanic parents have recently told me that it promotes such horrible practices like drinking excessively, loving your pick up truck, treating women as mere objects, and going to church a lot.

Should I listen to my satanic parents on this, or follow my achey breaky heart?

Well, most country musicians come from the southeast and midwest, which are pretty religious parts of the US. So a lot of country is Christian more incidentally than anything.

Errrm, I think there are some Christian "Sub genres" of Country, but as a genre itself it doesn't appear to be any more Christian than any other genre of music.

As long as you do not treat women as objects I say keep listening. It will only affect it to the degree you allow it too.

I think you should contact moderator right away and let them see your thread, it may be against the forum rules.

Your parents need to put down the Satanic Bible and live life. Seriously, I bet your parents watch movies like The Pursuit of Happyness and, and The Lorax, but they won't let you listen to country music? Geesh.

Also, here's a sad country song about suicide. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFvCCk0hojc

That's just country music in a nut shell. Christian music is more like songs sung in a church like hymms. I can't remember going to church and the choir singing "Redneck Woman" .

I don't know how but somehow Skype brought me here.

And to answer the question I think you should follow your own music tastes even if it is country music regardless of outside pressure yet alone your parents.

I dont think so. I dont remember much from the bible, but I dont think Jesus got drunk, wallowed in self pity, and talked about how much he loved his dog and his truck.

What about some metal/country mix ? Would that be ok ?
I have seen country rap (its horrible), so I know the above abomination must exist too.

Can't say I like country other than Johnny Cash and no it is not satanic or christian. It's just music that some decide to make a certain way... just not really my thing

However, it is used in the bloodiest anime I have ever seen.

It's funny because a major part of that movie was that the son's daycare misspelled the word "happiness" on the outside of the building.

You honestly think CD has gone downhill? Since 05/06 maybe, but from 07 onwards? It's been fairly terrible. Just trying to make things a bit more interesting, and less stoic.
