Argonian character model

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 2:54 am

I have to say that I have enjoyed all the Elder Scroll games from the very beginning. I enjoyed Morrowind most of all because the character models for both the Argonians and the Khajits shifted away from the humans models. By giving the 2 races digigrade legs, the submersion into fantasy was that far deeper. My shock was when I got Oblivion and the model was back to being human again with just a tail and a different head, and the same for Skyrim. Unlike the Khajit's tail, the Argonians looks like it's squeezing right out of their butt. The old chicken leg Morrowing model was a truer saurian form. I understand the reasoning behind it, making it easier for the devs to not have to make custom armor sets for just 2 races. However being that this franchise is going to be hitting prime time with an MMO. I would like the developers to consider putting the extra polish on this incarnation. Please go back to the non-human digigrade legs. Take the time to add shin armors, and even tail armors for the Argonian.

Thanks.

Judging by that one concept art, it's even worse. Still human, but no tails. Yeah..... Let's hope that concept design was scrapped right away.

I was thinking the same thing, My brother prefers argonian and Khajit's, Morrowind was my favorite and i did like their bent legs, so time will tell my friend.

No matter how many times you say it, it still looks nothing like an Argonian to me. And it's not really a concept art about the Argonians as it wasn't closeup and we still have no idea whether or not it is a flipping Argonian. I'm gonna go Tweet Zenimax.

And the Argonians we saw in Oblivion and Skyrim were a different sub race of the Argonians. There is more then one. so hopefully we will see the beast legs one and the more human one.

I would agree with you if it weren't for the hist tree, a huge staple in Argonian lore.

Maybe the type of Argonian that tends the Hist tree has no tail? It doesn't have to be the species we saw in all the other games.

Only in Arena, back when the Elder Scrolls have yet to develop its distinct style.

I'm still not sold on whether they're guarding it or getting ready to attack. There all facing towards it which makes no sense for a guard.

I'm kinda on the wait and see camp about this. Concept art could very well be more for land design than characters. I do though worry about them cheapening the Argonians and Khajjits though. Given how sometimes mmo devs take the cheap route to keep work loads down in the future. Having all races use the exact same body dimensions means a lot less work in the future. Bioware totally took this route for their starwars mmo. That and claiming people couldn't relate to inhuman characters for story lines and romances.

I imagine this will be like Skyrim and we probably won't get a real look at them till probably the end of this year or such. Even though this is Zenimax online a lot of times devs keep things spaced out to keep new things being seen.. I hope not. After all if they are this far into development I would hope the races are fairly close to done. I would really like to see a good screenshot of each race in the coming months. I hope so at least.

I hope BGS will try harder to make the beasts look and move like beasts in the next single player TES, but from this MMO made by strangers I have no real expectations, everything looks generic so far, why would the beast races be better. If they don't even have tails I'll laugh and cry at the same time.

The Argonians better be very beast like or I will be mad. I hope what we saw in art work is not Argonians.
