Her name is Lydia and she should be hanging around Dragonreachs main hall. Just talk to her and she'll go out help you on quests and such!

And if you ever buy a house she will move in there with you!

You can use your Housecarl as a follower. If you don't want a her as a follower and you don't have a house she'll stay in the Jarl's Palace. Lol, I was typing this and two other people responded before me.

Make sure to keep her healthy or she'll die. I use the Healing Hands spells after every battle and sometimes during. She's a great fighter too. I gave her some weapons and armor and she'll even use the Staff of Zombies to reanimate a dead enemy to fight for you too. She's great with enchanted staves.

Lydia is awesome. Sadly when I get a room, and put her to bed, she won't stay there if I get in it too. I guess she expects us to be married first. Damn that medieval chastity code.

What do you do when you're thane and get a housecarl, you say?
You enjoy being thane and having a housecarl. OR.......you could buy a house!

Also, once you get a house you can kill her, put her in strange deviant positions in your house, take screenshots (works best with nvde mod) then reload b4 you killed her.

Some really strange and juvenile responses here.

I had Lydia, but she died in a dungeon somewhere. Before she died... I wanted to figure out how to give her stuff, but I couldn't figure that out. How do you give other people stuff?

Talk to your companion and choose the dialog option saying I want to trade some items with you.
