Game is changing my character.

I started with some idea of being a spellsword type, but then I went into a burrow for that golden claw quest. I was low level and so I only had a steel sword and a couple not very powerful destruction spells. Even just one-on-one with the draugars I kept getting killed wether I fought with sword or destruction or both. The only thing that worked was sneaking, summoning a familiar then running away until I was no longer detected. Repeating until the thing was killed or mostly so. I'm trying to buy a house so it's hard to afford better spells or weapons. At least I don't have to pay for repairs. Maybe I should stay out of burrows and stick to killing wolves and bandits on the road until I'm stronger and can afford better gear.

Sounds like a skill issue. Not to be mean, but you shouldn't be having issues with undead in the early game. You could just need to work on your kiting/attacking skills and dodging attacks

The Draughr's can be quite tough later on too, if you go head to head with them....The Draughr Wights, and Draughr Deathlord's and so on. All boils down to your armour and such. At your point into the game it will be something like Hide armour, so simple Draughrs will give you grief.

However, don't underestimate the use of traps that are originally meant for YOU ;) Play tactically, even when playing as a mage, there are tactics that can be utilized, same for a Swordsman.

Are you trying to use frostbite or sparks or something? Flames should tear the druagr apart.

Are you playing on Master? Higher difficulties aren't friendly to casual builds.

Upgrading your gear would help. Try to heal more often too

I was only using the weak destruction spells and went through the burrows no problem but I was playing on Adept. If it's too hard, just scale the difficulty down a bit. If it gets too easy, scale it up a bit. Personally I'm too lazy to change my difficulty, I just leave it on Adept and deal with whatever happens. Some things kick my ass, others no problem.

I really like how much more difficult the game is. In oblivion I never increased health or worried about armor very much and it never really mattered. I could hide behind magic and fast movement.

Now it actually matters, even a bandit will run you through. (Though that still does not stop me from playing a low health build)

My advice would be to try doing some small quests or just simply exploring for a bit. If the place is too tough, leave and come back later. There will be enemies that pwn you hardcoe at low levels. Work on getting that sneak up and damage perks on your weapons. Some defensive magic never hurt either, if you are into that. Calm is a good spell, and illusion is easy to level. Maybe get some armor or get into alchemy for the health and regen potions. Enchant your weapons for that extra edge in combat.

Hope this helps, if you are having difficulty you can PM me or add me on XBL.

I'm playing on hardest. I like a challenge.

Then it's no wonder you keep dying. You need to level up, then.

I'm kind of glad the challenge I enjoy on default settings is enough for me...I already have a problem restarting new characters, no reason to make the game MORE difficult as well (of course, I prefer to play most games rather then let them play me).
