[REQ] Harder Dragons

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 4:31 pm

Why are dragons easier to kill than Saber Tooth Snow Cats? We need a mod that quadruples dragon damage so that they are actually a challenge. I can get one-hitted by a lesser creature but slay dragons with reckless abandon. Give the scaly guys an upgrade!

They needed to make them easy so that casual players also have a chance to get dragon souls... Current dragons are fine as they are but there could be more harder dragon races and some of them would be very hard.

Can't be that hard to mod, you can use the same model as all other dragons just change the skin and modify stats.

The higher tier dragons kick my butt. Just give them more HP and they'll be fine.

What? Their damage is fine. Staying in their breathe attacks reduces my health to almost nothing in no time flat.

Dragons, on the other hand, SHOULD have some stagger resistance so people can't just spam arrows/spells to stun lock them. My two cents.

Also dragons need to be more aggressive, I want them to constantly shoot fire/ice from their mouth, not sometimes. Dragons should land when they cant find you or cant reach you with their fire/ice breath.

I just found out that, later in the game when you're at pretty high level, there are Elder and Ancient dragons that are much, much tougher...

There should also be "named" legendary dragons that are nye impossible to kill but they should not be random encounters. Would be cool to find one in some underground cave, deep beneath the earth or atop the highest spire. It could be guarding a powerful Daedric, or other legendary artifact that even the gods are wary to retrieve. Singe, the Ancient Huge Red Dragon... AD&D style.

I would also like to see a dragon snatch someone up and swallow them whole.... or grab someone while flying then fling them off into the distance like a rag doll.

I actually think dragons just need to be more aggressive in melee more. Their bites hurt much worse than their breath in my experience.

But I agree, saber cats, trolls etc. really shouldn't have more HP than dragons...

And a giant should not be able to beat a dragon to death and then roflstomp the player. :/

LOLOLOL. I had this happen to me as well... but I was victorious, albeit narrowly.

Only two things you need to do:

1) Make dragons more mobile (no more of this kiting a dragon [censored], if one comes after you on foot you'd better create some sort of distraction and run like hell [if you're not a melee fighter])

2) Make dragons immune to stunlock

I think what's needed is some de-leveled-listing, increase in HP, more varieties in their shouts, and smarter strategies (eg strafing attacks instead of landing on the ground). I think their damage is fine - they can one-shot my mage if he doesn't start healing himself right away.

EDIT: Making them immune to stunning is a bad idea. Stunlocking - yes, but not stunning. That just invalidates player choice. Perhaps it'd be a good idea to make it so that everything but the weakest dragons is only stunned for a fraction of the normal amount of time, ranging from 7/8 to 1/4.
And a giant should not be able to beat a dragon to death and then roflstomp the player. :/
Lore-based: Giants are supposed to be at roughly the same power level as dragons.

Yesterday i was playing, a bear attacked the dragon, i kept peppering the bear with arrows, the bear still won. The bear was a lot weaker than most enemies in the game also, such as frost troll, dragur scorge ect. Some serious balance issues right there; nords fear the return of the dragons yet things 100x more powerful are already in the world.

Dragons are just another race in TES, iirc. One by itself might be nothing. Like one redguard isn't necessarily a threat. But an army of organized dragons. That's much more scary. Most people in Skyrim can't fell a bear or a dragon.
Much less an army of dragons.

Also, is there a reference for the statement that the lore says Giants are as strong as dragons?

Speaking of dragons, anyone remember Nafalilargus, the Imperial Dragon, from Redguard? He was not easy to defeat...

what i did was set difficulty to max and then used the console to set myself as 5 levels higher without getting the level perks or bonuses, this made the mobs scale up 5 levels while i stayed the same strength, it makes the game much much harder and more fun, although it does make dragons a real challenge now it kind of makes some mobs uber tough since it scales up everything, wispmothers and frost trolls are nasty.

If you take stagger away from dragons its gonna be hell on dual wielders like me since i have no block i have to rely on getting in there quick and staggering them.
