For Those Supposedly Not Suffering from Texture Bug

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 7:07 pm

I made a previous thread that anolyzed this texture bug in detail but it has been deleted it seems. In that thread I showed that everyone is actually affected by the texture bug in one way other another. Whether it be your hands and swords, or rock and stairs and tress, I believe every 360 player is suffering from it. The types of texture bugs you suffer depend on if you have it installed or not, with the latter choice having LESS texture bugs, but still suffering from dozens and dozens of textures being rendered in low-res. I nicknamed it the universal texture glitch because all 360 players are suffering from it no matter how you are playing (install, no install, USB install, no in-game menu usage.) However, I'm seeing alot of people posting that they are not suffering form any low-texture glitches so I ask you to please prove it to see if the problem is widespread or contained to a loud minority.

The types of pictures I ask for are such as but not inclusive to: trees, tree stumps, stairways in towns (particularly in Dawnstar), treasure chests, desks, hands, swords, pathways, snow, rocks, walls. What I will do in return is post the exact same shot of what you posted in return so we can compare.

For each picture please get very close, it doesn't have to be nose-to-tree, but very close to it. To start it off, I have taken some random pictures around the world,http://imgur.com/a/n07n9. In my opinion, the images I took are only a small example of the texture problems seen all over the game, it would take too long for just me to take that many pictures, and it ruins the fun of the game (which btw is FANTASTIC). Additionally, it might be easy to accuse my camera of distorting the image, please refrain from that. I promise that it is not the camera. I purposely tried to stand next to higher-res textures so you can see the blatant differences.

Also ask yourself, if Fallout 3 looked so good, why can't Skyrim?

I too am experiencing the texture issue, however, after uninstalling and playing from the disc for a while, it looks better. Some textures are still bad and pretty much every texture looks bad when I walk up to them and look close.

I'm not worried, though. I'm 100% positive Bethesda knows knows about the issue and is working on a fix as I type. I'm willing to bet the patch will be uploaded this week, early next week at the latest.

Try to ignore the visuals for the time being and enjoy what the game offers. The world is MASSIVE with so much to do.

There is no denying it. It has been impossible to take me away from the game; its really spectacular. That being said, I also want to get the most out of it, and it is a bit strange having Fallout 3 superior visually still.

They are aware of the issue. Gstaff messaged me today replying to my query regarding this issue. I have an open/active thread about it here on the first page.
His reply is post 19.

Awesome! I didn't see that. I'm glad they realize its a problem, whether it be caching or not. I can't wait for the next update which is sure to drop in the next two weeks. :)
