Game Flashes

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 9:32 pm

I started up Skyrim and the first thing I noticed was that the game flashes bright and dark. At first I assumed I was in a thunderstorm with lightening but soon I realized this is a problem affecting the whole game.

I have a decent system and whatever settings I run it on the flashing continues. Whites suddenly flash really white and dark colours flash black. Or maybe it's flickering. It's hard to tell. I'd appreicate any help you can give...

Yeah, I have this issue, too.

Hm, using FRAPS' video capture seems to fix this. Of course this is only a temporary fix.

Is it a frame rate issue or another type? It's really annoying whatever it is. I wish I could describe it better though - sometimes it's like the white flashes so white it takes over the screen and sometimes it's just that the screen flickers. Sigh.

Ok, my game is working properly.

I updated my video card driver.

And I turned anti-anolsing off along with the filtering thing as well. Then i turned on FXAA.

And now it works.

The problem is solely with the AA and Shadows. You can turn Anisotropic Filtering back on and you should still be ok. Also, I believe having everything else maxed out should be better than the FXAA (not entirely sure on that one yet though)

Maybe I don't have the same problem, but turning off anti-aliasing did not solve it.

I spammed f10 and managed to capture a few pictures during some hardcoe flickering.

It is what I have.

There seems to be a connetction to the sun.

At night I did not encounter this.

I updated my drivers. Let's see what happens.
