Y'all got me worried

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 6:58 am

I have been a console gamer for most of my life. I pretty much stuck to FPS and sports when I got bored and asked the clerk at the local game shop for something different. He recommend Oblivion and I got it for my PS3. I have been hooked ever since on TES. I envied the PC users and all their mods and high graphics. So when Beth announced Skyrim I spent a bunch a money upgrading my machine to run this game at it's full potential. This will essentially be my first PC game, and with all the comments about the PC problems. I am worried that I made a mistake and should of just stuck with the console. I am hoping since I don't know any better that I will be able to overcome the flaws of the PC version.

Welcome to a PC game release.

The forums are always the same come a AAA title release, most are off enjoying the game and the vocal minority are here bashing small things.
You will more than likely go into the game and think "hmm what was all the trouble on the forums for",this is just typical.

Hang in there and do not be to worried ;)

This game was anticipated to have a lot of problems at launch.. First of all, it's bethesda, they're known for making quality games, but they're also known for having quality bugs coming with them. There will be patches, a lot of them.. Second of all, there are solutions out there if any of these bugs happens to you: ) Good luck to you, and don't worry.

Hello and welcome to Bethesda game studios. We will release the game you pay us, and we will depend on our community to fix our problems. lol
It is true. I love them, just it's always basic and obvious bugs that a 9 year old child could point out, and they always play ignorant on the issue. "We are not aware of this problem", yet it was the first complaint plastered all over there forums. Whatever, just move along, enjoy the game and in a few weeks the game will be glorious.

Not every PC game are console ports , don't worry but sadly Skyrim is , the only thing i can do is to wait for the awesomely talented mod community to fix this mess :sadvaultboy:

I would recommend you to get The Witcher 2 if you want to experience PC gaming, here are some screens taken from my PC so no fakeshots in here:

TW2 is the best looking game I've ever played. It blows Skyrim out of the water. Now granted, Skyrim is MUCH bigger and the scale blows TW2. That still doesn't make me feel better about some of the poor textures in Skyrim. Not one bit.

Glad to hear your opinion :)

@NewYears1978 yes i am sure Skyrim is bigger and will have lots more stuff to do and more fun , i just was suggesting a good game RPG made for PC for the OP to see what a PC can do :) . I still have no idea why Skyrim uses such extremely low res textures :sadvaultboy:

EDIT: oh also those pics are without ubersampling :P

LOL... for a sec I thought you guys meant TWO WORLDS 2!! XD

Yea, The Witcher 2 is definitely the best looking RPG to date. But it was also MUCH smaller in scale. Was like a "big boys" Zelda, heheh... shoulda been much longer though...

To be fair to Bethesda, when F:NV(which I know wasn't Bethesda) was released I played day 1, no bugs whilst others claimed the game was unplayable. This indicates some contextual problem with the individual gamer's rig/or bad luck.

Well I got the game last night at the midnight release (I'm in TX), went home expecting the worse after reading the PC forum all evening leading up to the release. I slipped in the game, followed the instructions, it took just long enough to install so that I could read the manual thoroughly, about 15 minutes. (No problems with Steam). I used all the default settings, the game recommended I use the high video settings, and then I was playing. I played for 2 hours flawlessly. I had no problem getting use to the Kb&M setup, and I thought the graphics were great. Of course I don't have any other PC games to compare it to but I am thoroughly happy with the game so far.
