Perhaps it is my controller, but is anyone else having issues when accessing the main menu from the B button. The menu opens and then sticks when I use the left stick to open inventory, map, ect...Very annoying. Not very fluid. sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't and I have to back out and open it up again.

when the left stick is barley moving perhaps an old controler it has an issue try to make sure the left stick is not moving at all before opening it they will fix this one

You may want to check its not auto saving when the menu opens, this defaults to happening every 15 minutes. It displays saving in the upper right of the screen while doing this, the interval can be set in the settings, but I don't think it can be switched off.

If its happening every time you open the menu then something else is causing the problem. I myself have a problem with the Dpad in favourites sticking or pausing before moving.
