Smithing perk tree question

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 8:07 am

I want to focus on heavy armor, but one thing confuses me. In the perk tree, it looks like the right side branch is for heavy armor, and the left for light, but on the left is a perk for Advanced Armors - plate and scale. Are those light armors only? Are they also heavy? I am confused.

The general concensus is that the entire left branch is light armor despite plate armor technically being "heavy" in all our opinions. Bethesda probably just fudged that one for balance sake.

Personally I'm still concerned that to get the final perk of each tree (the ones that have two branches meet at the final perk), requires you to fill out both initial branches. We've heard you don't have to, but it's probably something I'll worry about until I see it proved otherwise when I'm playing myself.

Man, I hope that isn't true. If you have to fill both trees then perks have officially killed Skyrim.

I would interpret it this way: Smithing for Dragon Armour should not be a perk that is exclusive to Heavy Armour. It should be accessible to players who are using Light Armour. Advanced Armour is likely, in my opinion, to be a perk that is simply a link between Light and Dragon Amour. Can you imagine the learning curve a Light Armour user has to go through if there's no such perk to motivate them from Elven to Glass to Dragon?

Let's continue this in the other thread.

I'll also note that trolling people is not only unacceptable behavior on the forums, but at this point it will get you suspended past the game's release day.
