Issues at the current time with the PC version

I am really loving the game (though I'm still just in the starting town) and think Bethesda has done an excellent job with many aspects of Skyrim. The Elder Scrolls atmosphere is here, the wide openness of the world is calling, and it is hard, really hard, to not just keep playing.

Having said that, as a PC user I find myself a little frustrated with some areas that seem to have been overlooked. So that Bethesda can look into addressing these issues and so that people can know how to workaround them in the meantime, I have compiled a small list of issues that currently exist with the game.

1. Mouse lag in menus being caused by vsync being forced on
I'm very unhappy to see this time and again with every new PC release of a "console port". This was the case in Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, and many other games I have played recently. Developers really seem to think vsync is excellent ( for what reason, I cannot imagine). What angers me about this is that many players do not realize why their mouse does not move in the way they expect it to when vsync is the culprit, and so are subconsciously a little bothered every time they try to use their mouse in the menu, which degrades their enjoyment of the game.
The problem is, as has been with all Gamebryo games before Skyrim, is that even if you turn vsync off in your video drivers, the game forces it to be on. The only way to turn it off is by going into your skyrim.ini file nested down under your Users folder (do a Win + F and search for it) and add a line to the "Display" area in that file that says "iPresentInterval=0" (sans quotes). This problem should be trivially simple to fix, so I hope to see it in the next patch.

2. Keybinding issues
There are multiple issues here that need addressing.
First, the game seems to assume a WASD layout, because issues arise when you try to bind functions to keys like E or F. For example, I use a ESDF layout because it then lets me have easy access to the WQA keys as well, but since this essentially makes my "move forward" key the same as my "Activate/Use" key (the E key), I am not able to take books with the E key. Also, since my F key is my "move right" key, I'm not able to add favorites using the F key. Instead I have to use the "B" key which I have bound to the "change POV" function, which, for some reason is the key you need to hit to add favorites. In other words, the keys indicated by the UI are incorrect, or the functions they are tied to become no longer able to be used if you bind them to other keys.
Second, as someone has mentioned in another thread, there is no way to bind functions to the numpad keys. I can see how this would be a major issue for left-handed players.
Third, the F1-F4 keys are no longer used in Skyrim, despite their usefulness in Oblivion and Fallout New Vegas. It was very easy to hit F2 to bring up your inventory, F3 to bring up your spells (if I remember correctly), and F4 to bring up your map. Now, while these functions can be bound to other keys, it would be more convenient to have them on the F1-F4 keys as they are within quick reach, and this would allow the I key, etc. to be bound to other functions, items, etc. Which brings me to another issue: not being able to bind items to keys other than the number keys. Let us bind spells, weapons, etc. to Y U I O L, etc. keys since we have them. Let us truly take advantage of the fact that we are playing this game on the PC.
Last, in almost every game nowadays, whether a console port or not, you can exit the game by hitting Alt-F4. Yet, in Skyrim, you cannot. While admittedly a small issue, being able to quit the game using Alt-F4 saves you from having to go through the menus every time, which gets old quickly for PC gamers.

Don't get me wrong: I am by and large very pleased with the game so far and expect to have many hours of fun ahead. But I expect PC versions of games to offer the functionality of PC versions so that I can fully enjoy the experience.

If anybody else has issues with the PC version but they would like to list here, please do so for the benefit of everyone else.
