30-50fps MediumHigh settings?

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 6:48 am

Hey guys, I'm using:
ATI Radeon 5870
AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition 3.2GHz
1920x1080
4GB RAM
W7 64-bit

For some reason, the game runs like absolute crap. I've seen people with higher-spec PC's and their games run even worse in some situations.

Are Bethesda creating any patches? Am I essentially screwed unless I upgrade? I've tried iPresentInterval=0 etc, to no prevail.

Please help.

What is absolute crap for you?

If it is the 30-50 fps you put in the header, then the game runs fine for a computer with your specs.

Under 60 fps is bad for me. Once it reaches 60, the game actually runs at a lifelike frame-rate. I'm really picky about these things, so when it runs silky smooth indoors and slideshow-ey outside, it really gets to me.

Update media players, firefox and stuff. I know, it's ridiculous. But it helped me when all my games ran like a [censored].

My rig with the same cpu @3.7ghz and a 6870 runs at 60 fps with a mix of high and ultra @ 1080p...-shrug-

some people are having issues with 11.10 and skyrim, go back to 11.9

ATI Radeon 5870
30-50 FPS sounds normal to me on those settings, my GTX 580 only pulls 40-60 FPS (I think it's capped at 60 FPS even with vsync off) on max settings.

It is not...or at least, it is not in terms of the Fraps fps measurer. I get more than 100fps regularly in some of the less populated/complex areas. Whether I'm actually getting more than 60fps technically, however...that I'm not sure of. :)

Dude this is not a shooter, you do NOT in any way need 60 fps to enjoy this game.

Exactly. You need to get used to the fact, that when playing these kind of games, it is very difficult to achieve, and you do not need 60 fps.

It was the same when Oblivion launched - a lot of people needed to get used to sub-60 fps.

I'm glad I'm not cursed with the ability to notice frame rates under 60. I start to notice when it's in the mid 20s or so. 30+ is fine.

If FPS is that much of an issue (other than the clear hardware incompatibilities they need to fix) you can always lower the resolution some as a temporary fix.
