Game runs like crap!

19fps average on the first freaking town during the intro!
Specs:
i7 920,GTX 580,6GB RAM
and yes i've tried disabling the vsync and it doesn't do anything

EDIT:
I overclocked my cpu to the max stable oc(4Ghz) and my frame rates have doubled!

Bethesda you should be ashamed of yourself!

I know, and it doesn't even look much better than Oblivion. Try forcing triple buffering. That and forcing Oblivion's crossfire profile at least got me up to 50ish FPS.

Also, I think the scripted intro bit gives a considerably lower FPS than the rest of the game for whatever reason. Try getting past all that into the first free wilderness area, then judge your baseline FPS there.

I'm using all high settings with vsync and the game runs silky smooth. Do you have a bunch of background programs running?

Uhhh a lot of people, including me, are having problems with fps when they shouldn't be.

Yes and they didn't do anything because the problem comes from the cpu(just like in obvlivion and fallout). The cpu can't handle the calculations and bottlnecks the gpu resulting in abysmal frame rates.
This also proves that they are using a modified version of the gamebryo engine(witch had similar issues with multi core cpus)

you can tell just by looking at the wonky animations and oversaturation of last-gen Bloom that this is still the old engine.

"you can't shine sh**"

ditto on the frame rates, same CPU, with 470s in SLI....30 fps in the intro? it went up later to 50s and has stayed up for the most part but sub-30s shouldnt even be imaginable for such a poor looking game. Like someone said, its not much better than Oblivion. Most of the lighting is pre-canned, the textures are low, and the models have a pretty low poly count

No offence, but 40fps is atrocious. I'm not criticizing you as it's obvious your PC is a monster, and I'm also in the same boat as you with bad frame rates. Hopefully a patch will occur.

You'd think Bethesda could make or license an engine that doesn't run like crap. Isn't Creation just a spruced up Gamebryo anyways? License the Red Engine Bethesda.

I've been on these forums since 2003 and have participated in the launches of Morrowind, Oblivion, and now Skyrim. And this is the first complaint I've ever posted.

This game runs HORRIBLY on my system which easily surpasses the recommended specs. "Auto detect" set everything to Ultra, which was unbearable, so I turned everything down as low as they could go. This helped when outdoors, but the game is still simply unplayable when indoors. To add to that, mouselook is a joke and my wrist cannot take more than 15 minutes of playing.

I really want to play this game. And I made sure my computer met the specifications before I decided to get the PC version. But... it's not happening. I'm a very sad panda at the moment.

PLEASE message me if you find any fixes. I'm in the exact-same boat as you. Runs awfully yet I have a good PC.
