No. They are scimitars, Redguards have adopted a more middle-eastern culture. I for one think that makes them a lot more interesting.

its strange how freaked out the nords are at the sight of a curved sword, when ebony, orcish, and blades swords are all curved as well. at any rate, it is quite frankly awesome how each race has their culture represented in skyrim, unlike oblivion where they were all melted into the imperial's non-existent culture.
