No fps issues for you?

Since there are obviously a lot of you guys playing the game with no problems and I am struggling with the FPS issue, i thought we could compare what we have done in the game to try and identify something that separates us. I want to start a new character and thought maybe if i do things a bit differently this time it could hold me over atleast until it is patched.

First a few presumptions i am working under. The savegame size is a symptom (maybe not even that), not a cause. There are no bad discs in circulation. The problem is in the code (and might also be isolated, like a quest or something).

I have played for 62 hours.

My first and most likely theory is that it has to do with amount of places visited.

I have been to all the cities and towns excluding winterhold and karthwasten and my map is pretty fleshed out (101 locations discovered) otherwise. (PS! My fps drops in map mode, does yours?)

Second theory is amount of quests

I have finished 25 quests (5 main quests, 12 side quests) and 112 misc objectives)

Third theory is kills (as they are just laying around still arent they)
I have 749 kills in total.

If you guys could tell me if we differ greatly in any of these ways it would sort of isolate the problem so i could start a new character.
Thank you

I posted this on another thread a day or so ago. Let me know if it has any affect on the games performance. I have multiple save files the largest being around 6k.

Hey guys I have posted this once or twice in other threads. I would like for people to see this and let everyone know if these steps had any effect on your gameplay experience

Try these things if you have not already. The all capital letter words in parentheses is the setting. Follow step by step. Settings can be found in the XMB menu second from the left. This is the main menu before you start playing your game. I appologize if I have made this more complicated then it needs to be. Anything that has (HDMI) by the setting should be adjusted accordingly. Meaning if you are not using an HDMI cable to connect your playstation to your tv choose (OFF) or the most simple option. If you are connected using an HDMI Cable follow these select what I have. I am running this game very smoothly right now. Good luck and I hope I made even a slight difference in someones gameplay.

-Settings-Game Settings-PS Upscaler (OFF) PS Smoothing (OFF)
-Settings-Video Settings-BD/DVD Upscaler (OFF) BD/DVD Video Output Format (Y Pb/Cb /Pr/Cr) 1080p 24 Hz Output (OFF) BD/DVD Dynamic Range Control (OFF)
-Settings-System Settings-Display [What's New] (OFF) Notification Messages (DO NOT DISPLAY)
-Settings-Display Settings-Cross Color Reduction Filter (OFF) RGB Full Range (Limited) Y Pb/Cb Pr/Cr Super-White (OFF) Deep Color Output (OFF)

Also if your connected to psn go to -Settings-Network Settings-Internet Connection (DISABLED)

I hope this helps you all

Thanks mate,
This really does help quite a bit and i had already adjusted those settings from your other post. It doesnt help the loading times much though so i thought i would have a go at the forums to hear what people do to keep the in-game memory consumption down to acceptable levels.

@Yackpath, what makes u think any of that will help, is it just something u tryed, or were u told to do that ?

im almost 60hours(over 8mb savefile) in and experienced some bad slow down, fps drop last nite. in the space of half an hour from when i turned it on it got worse. sometimes freezing for half a second. so i reset my ps3 and when i put it back on it played smooth as butter for the next 2hours untill i turned it off.
i read before that resetting your ps3 clears the system cache, it worked great for me last nite.

To be fair i didnt change the video settings (cant see that having an effect) but the notifications and such will eat a bit of ram when turned on and i found turning it of extends the good periods rather than improving the bad periods. I also reset my ps when it gets too bad and that is the best "fix" around i think.

My save file is at around 40 something hours, and I have been experiencing some serious lag, that is persistent and makes sprinting nearly useless. It is a pain in the neck when in fights, as well. I was loving this game like a newborn baby until this lag set in. Now exploring is making it worse. I have a feeling it has something to do with the number of dragons killed, perhaps, because those dragon skeletons don't go away. I don't know how we are expected to enjoy such an incredible game when the frame-rate becomes so FRUSTRATINGLY bad. Especially if you have only explored half the map.
