Games like Pirates of the Caribbean

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 11:32 am

I'm a pirate lover and Sid Meier's Pirates is one of my all time fav games. I am an RPG lover too so when I discovered http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pirates_of_the_Caribbean_%28video_game%29 the game (published by Bethesda back in 2003) I was so happy and I played the [censored] out of it regardless its bugs and old graphics. I'd like some suggestions what other rpg's in pirate settings do you know on PC (I don't have a console atm) where you can sail in real time (1st person view would be great), board enemy ships, fight on land and sea, develop your character, upgrade ships, hire crew, etc...make trade, hunt for treasures...

I'm also using this thread to beg Bethesda to create and publish a new and modern pirate game with open world and a TES/Fallout production value please!

+[censored]ing1!!!
I haven't played any pirate game so far but I reckon no other studio could pull off a stunning caribean open world like Bethesda. Great idea.

Looks good and it's from the creators of Gothic. Not sure about sailing though, it looks like the focus is on land. But the setting is cool and it's open world.

Sid Meiers Pirates! is da bomb, I've put hundreds of hours in that one and felt like a true pirate. But I wouldn't mind a huge open world rpg made by Bethesda, they are really good at this. Not sure about their availability though, theyr already loaded with two big franchises, if they add a new IP the waiting time between TES installments would suffer.

My input here for every respectable :frog: pirate is stay away from the "official" games made after the Pirates of Caribbean movie. They are insanely bad especially on pc.

Sea Dogs - Pirates of the Caribean (Sea Dogs 2) - Age of Pirates (Sea Dogs 2.1) - Age of Pirates 2 (Sea Dogs 2.5)
Skip the first Age of Pirates, it's terrible.

http://www.gamersgate.co.uk/DD-AOP2CAS/age-of-pirates-2-city-of-abandoned-ships is the most recent in the series and I seem to keep advertising it on here
It's not exactly flawless or state of the art, but it's still a marked improvement over PotC imho. In many ways I prefer it over the Build Mod.

Where do I sign? I'm a fan of the Caribbean region and while I was playing Port Royale 2 (awesome game btw) I was wondering the same question, what would this world look like from the ground, in first person, with the Bethesda level of detail.

I haven't played much of AoP2, but I myself prefer the Build Mod for PotC. If you haven't played that, op, I'd check it out.
