Any chance for a decent PC UI ?

So I was wondering, will there be a PC UI somewhere in the near future ?
Wanted to try out a Mage but it seemed pretty boring since you seem to have to always use Q and pause the game instead of just assigning a Spell to a key or at least arrange it in a quick bar accessible with 1-10 etc. or with the mouse.
Not really viable if you not just want to cast destruction spells all the time but use combos, the pausing kind of destroys the flow of the fights.
I mean, say you want to summon an Atronarch, put up defense spells and place a rune in case of retreat, then dual cast bolts and inbetween turn some undead and use some potions.
It would take multiple times longer clicking through menues than the actually fight.
I know you had to keep the Interface simplified in order to make it playable with a controller, but isnt it possible to change that for the PC ?
While I had lots of fun exploring the world and figuring stuff out, the fights are really unneccessary simple and bumpy. What enervates me the most is that it seems so easy to fix it, just a few Interface changes would make it way more enjoyable.

Yah, I"m enjoying my new Kindle Fire and Angry Birds Seasons tonight.

So no Skyrim issues for me tonight.

All I can suggest is wait and hope they have the act together enough to release
the creation toolkit in time for some serious mods to arrive by early 2012. Or just
kick back and say frak it and return in a year cause by then I'm sure things will be much
more copacetic Skryim wise, on the PC anyway.

Or, pick up a copy of Rift. It isn't that much for the game plus 3 months of game play. I dare say
the overall cost , now, is probably not much more than the retail cost of Skryim is.
That game has quests, spellcasters that blow stuff up, and other keen stuff, plus a UI that makes sense on a PC.

Just a option.
I shelved FNV for months due to issues it won't be too hard to do the same here.

Read the fabulous manual.

Add the spell you want to hotkey to your favorites menu
Open your favorites menu (default - hit q)
Hover the mouse pointer over the spell you want to hotkey
Press a number key from 1-8
Voila.

I honestly think 99% of the UI complaints would go away if Bethesda added these directions in a splash screen or to the tutorial. This has to be the tenth time I've posted this in various forums. (Happy to help.)

I agree with the manual statement. After I read that, it's been easy to deal with. Some mouse movement and item selection glitches need to be fixed. The ability to easily favorite an entire "loadout" would be nice, too.

@Uzibeatle
I actually looked Rift up some time ago but forgot about it later.
I dont like MORPG′s to much due to the perfectionist attitude most players you encounter there have after some time, but thanks for the tip, will look it up again.

@lorca
Been there, not understood that ;)
But will investigate, thank you.

Thanks a lot !!!

I still would like it though, if they made it so that you can cast "one time spells" like summon atronarch for example with a single button click or at least with a single self assigned key.
With your Tip it is way better than how I played the game though :)

It is difficult to RTFM when TFM is generally not provided with a game nowadays. I didn't even know Skyrim had a manual until I started reading the forums. For the past several years, I've just looked at the 'controls' options in the menu to figure out what I can do. Since the devs, in their seeming hatred of the PC interface, decided not to make the hotkeys configurable, I was under the impression that they didn't exist at all.
Of course, they're still not terribly useful, since they throw all spells into the left hand and all weapons into the right. Want to dual wield two different weapons or two different spells? Out of luck.

Yeah. I tyred to ctrl-1 the spells from the menue to and figured they couldnt be assigend when that didnt work since it is the standart way of handling this in PC games. As basic as WASD pretty much.
The dual wield/spell does work though, just have to click twice. Putting it in the right hand only on the other hand....;) Maybe it is that strange auto assign thing they implemented for the console palyers, it sometimes produces weird results, try again and see if it works.
Anyway, it is playable and fun how it is now, could still use improvement though.
