Game keeps freezing...

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 4:46 am

I stopped playing skyrim for a an hour or two and then when I started to play again it freezes right when the game starts. There's no scratches on the disk and nothing wrong with the Xbox it runs the other games perfectly.

If it helps my 360 is a orginal Elite and it's flat instead of upward.

Help?

How big is your game save file? These are getting really big on my PS3 already, and it might be affecting stability.

What do you mean? I've saved 11 times so far and I'm on my journey to the Greybeards.

Edit: It's 4 or 3MB.

Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas had a well known bug where the games became slightly unstable when game save files got really big. I am worried that there are reports this is happening for Skyrim on PS3. We shall have to see.

Likely to affect xbox 360 too, but maybe not as much. Who knows.

I can't believe I spent $60 to play a video game for six hours. Now I know not to buy anymore TES games.

I have just experienced my first freeze in game and had to reset.

It was just as I was about to unleash dual shock if that is any help?

I've been experiencing freeze up problems as well. It appears to within a few minutes after restarting the game each time it happens. It freezes at random times during game play or when the game is transitioning to a new area. I've cleared the cache each time by pressing the A button during start up, but doesn't really seam to help.

Hoping there will be a fix soon!

I started getting freezing about two hours in and it ended up being my Xbox breaking. I'm not saying that Skyrim broke my Xbox, I'm sure thats not the case, but now the machine freezes up even with no game in the disc tray. It svcks that I had no problems with it up until release day. If your Xbox and other games are working correctly though, this is what I was told to try in an email Bethesda sent me...

"Clearing the Game Cache on the Xbox 360 is a separate function from clearing the System Cache. In order to do so, you must hold the LEFT Bumper, RIGHT Bumper, and the X button all at the same time on the Xbox 360 controller as a game is launching. Once you reach the Main Menu or Title Screen of the game, you can let go of the buttons. There will be no notification to you that this process has completed because it is all done passively."

You can give this a try and see if it helps. Good luck. As for me, I wont be able to play until I can get myself a new Xbox. Wish I got the game for PC instead.

I have just started to get this issue as well. After trying to install it to USB to rectify the textures issue, the game just totally freezes after around 4-5 minutes of gameplay.
I then tried to play off of the disk, same issue.
I cleared the system cache, no change. This just started today and it never happenned before with any other games, my 360 4 GB slim is one year old and always worked fine.
The game disk is in perfect condition.
I have been playing since friday, and it stated happening to me just 30 mins ago.
I am kind of depressed because i have been waiting for this game a long time, i now its unplayable ? This is not funny at all.
I will try my Deus Ex game to see if it freezes too, if it does, its the console, if it does not, it as to be the game, or game disk, even if its in perfect condition ?
This svcks big time, wth is it with Bethesda games man ? I remember this happening to me when Oblivion came out, i think the games are breaking consoles lol

I just love how you gave up so easily. Have you tried a 'new' game and see if that works? Maybe clear your cache? etc.

Don't give up too soon, just because something freezes and/or screws up.

Bethesda is working on a number of issues, which might involve what you are talking about.

Give it some time.

We shouldn't give them time. What you are saying is the game isn't ready. So instead of trying to meet the 11/11/11 deadline, they should have held the game back and waited. If we are going to be kept waiting we may as well waited for the release to be kept back so Bethesda could finish the game properly.

Right now, Bethesda is no better than Kerebros who made Sword of the Stars II. At least they said sorry and keep us informed in what is going on.

My game seems to freeze just at loading screens. I'm really grateful they add so many ways of auto saving now. It saves my butt when it comes to these random freeze spots.

Ok so i tried playing another game ( Deus Ex), and there is no freezing, that game plays like a charm, so i gatter its not my hardware, it can't be.
So that means the freezing issue is with the game, i will now try to clear the game cache as stated above and reinstall it to my HDD.

PLEASE Bethesda, you need to look this up fast, this is keeping some players from actually PLAYING the game, please look this up, thank you.
