Radically scaling enemies

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 10:07 am

I've been playing skyrim for around 15 hours so far and i've noticed that every so often the game goes from ok difficulty to ridiculous quite fast. I was right outside whiterun a few moments ago and i was hunting at level 12. I was killing elk nicely and saw a mudcrab so i tried to kill it, typically i could kill it in 2 axe swings, but when i tried to kill this one my first swing did a tiny bit of damage. It attacked me and killed me in 1 hit (120hp). I thought this was beyond weird so when i loaded my save back i went back to to find more crabs and this time it was back to normal.

A few other times something like this happened but nothing this crazy, i just figured these were difficult fights but i just wanted to say this because it might be a bug or something.

I have found similar encounters. Particularly with bandits. There are two run of the mill mooks named "Bandit", one is a pushover, the other forces me to sprint the hell away to heal every other swing.

I posted in a topic Friday about this so I'm glad someone else is coming in with the same issue. I thought at first it was because there are certain enemies that spawn into the world WAY out of your range in the beginning. It was in morrowind as well and you must learn to pick your fights but I have also run into insanely overpowered enemies. I was on last night and fought a falmer and a charras. Was a level 19 ork in dwarf armor with an elven mace, my 1h skill was 58. My strikes were taking barely 5% of their health whereas their hits would take roughly 35-40% of mine (my max HP was 250). Hope they look into this soon.

Yes I was mauling lots of bandits as a werewolf, came across a generic bandit camp. I did hardly any damage and died quickly. WTF.

I would rather scrap scaling completely. Do what FNV did, make overpowered creatures in the world early on, then I can just avoid them. Also im noticing bandits are now getting glass, drawven, elven stuff. God I hate that. They are [censored] bndits, they live in a [censored] camp, yet they can buy the latest armour... Just get rid of scaling bethesda. Please, for the love of Talos, it is a horrible feature. It has never been good.

I can't play this game right now. I am going to wait for a patch and enjoy Halo:AE and Dark Souls for a bit until the game is fixed. It hurts to know games of such high caliber aren't tested and fixed for release anymore.

its wierd, i know bethesda is trying to provide a challenge cause of all the complaints from oblivion, but even during the main quest in paths i absolutely have to take there seems to be an impossible enemy like frost trolls on the 7000 steps, I keep thinking I have to kill them but I can't, but there in the way of my quest objectives x.x

i like what they did with the giants though, there ok, there always in camps far from the path, you dont have to fight them until your powerful enough to do so
