Title theme sounds badly mixed

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 6:56 am

Hi everyone,

So I threw the Skyrim disk in my Xbox 360 expecting to be blown away by the great theme song like I was blown away after seeing the trailer of the game. Now I found the menu-screen is a bit gloomy and minimal... too minimal for my tastes and there is a weird grey line at the left side of the screen. But that's ok though, the game itself still looks great.

But the theme song didn't sound like I remembered from the trailers (or Oblivion for that matter). the audio quality seems as if an epic song was re-recorded through very bad quality speakers. I can assure you it's not my system, I connected my Xbox to an Apogee Duet external sound-device which is connected to 800 dollar studio monitors

Listen for yourself:

Please, please, Bethesda, would you fix this?

I think asking bethesda to patch the theme song is a little too much. How much time do you really spend at the menu, I wouldn't imagine very much. This is not really an issue.

I agree, I thought I was going to be blown away like how it sounded in the trailers. But it sounded really weak in the menu for some reason. I had to turn my speakers all of the way up just for it to sound loud enough.

Even the sound the Bethesda logo makes in the beginning sounds better.

As a musician, in my opinion (which is of course no better than yours) the music sounds well mixed and produced. It's quieter, but the mix is fine. Turn up the music volume in in-game settings.

Volume was not the problem here, it's the width and quality of the mix. As I said, I have the speakers to hear it. You might be right it's not a big deal (especially for them to put time and money into it), though it would'nt be that big of a deal. ah well, gotta live with it I suppose.

The YouTube clip you posted was practically mono. Through my reference monitors and cans the in-game theme sounds rich, well-mixed, and clearly stereo and with lots of space. I don't know what you're hearing, but see, that's why I said my opinion is no better than yours lol. Everyone hears things differently, even through great equipment.

Youre asking for this when we have REAL issues to deal with?
-xbox texture issues
-quest bugs making some quest incompletable
-visual glitches making arrows stick in you forever
Those are real issues.

REAL issues are in REAL life, you'd need to have one to know
