Poor close-up textures (Install or otherwise?)

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 12:38 am

Obviously, I'm not the only one tosay something about the poor textures and glitches (sky, ground, etc.)
I installed the game onto my hard drive before starting a new game. It runs pretty smoothly and works pretty well. I want to know if textures improve if it is not installed - but would it be at the expense of running smoothly?

Some people find this helps, others that it makes no difference.

Has it been confirmed that the textures (especially snowy rocks and off-road terrain) are just poor and fully loaded or just not fully loaded or something?

Installed on the xbox or not, chances are that you might end up with low res textures at some point. You can check the statement in the stickies here at the forum posts.

Here is an example when the textures fail to load properly => http://i44.tinypic.com/34xer84.jpg

Have only briefly played the game installed. The textures on my characters hands were low res all the time, while having the game installed. The textures on my characters hands, while playing off the disc, are fine. Other than that, I can not say.

Even though its more likely to have more low res textures on install vs off disc, im putting up with it since i know they are working on it, more low textures on install > slightly less low textures and xbox going nuclear/disc drive burning out off disc.

You know, I've been wondering if I want to continue my save game or not. I can deal with lower res textures.

The thing I do fear the most is that if I play and the patch is released you'll have to start a new game. Thus rendering your previous save games not playable.

I just don't want to spend hours in a game just to start over again + knowing what will happen story/quest wise :(

If you have the bug you will know it, your hands will be very blurry. With that said, after installing the game on a flash drive, I definitely don't have that glitch, but there are a few textures that are kind of bad. Actually, its not just an xbox thing either. My friend was playing on max settings on his pc and there was still a few bad textures. Theres one type of cabinet. its wood, and has studs all over it that looks bad.

My question is this:

Well, actually first let me say that I have not installed the game on my Xbox 360's HDD, I've played off the disk right from the start and certain textures (Anything made of wood, moss on rocks, dirt covered roads, weapons, armor, skin etc) look low res and blurry no matter what, it doesn't change for more than a few seconds, if at all.

So my question is this: Will Bethesda's update/fix for the texture issues for those who installed the game, fix the issues for people playing off the disk as well?

I only ask if anyone knows the answer to that because Bethesda has made no mention of issues for those playing off the disk, so it has me a little concerned.

That said, the PS3 version that I bought my girlfriend looks perfectly fine, even on an SDTV, so I'm really wondering how they managed to goof like this.

Anyway if anyone knows whether the fix will effect those playing off the disk, please let me know here or in a private message.

Thanks.

Yesterday, I deleted Skyrim from my hard drive and tried playing my save games... No significant difference on the textures... Plus it's more choppy and not as smooth. I guess I'll deal with the sh!t-tacular texture quality until the patch. I'd rather have a smoother running game in barely worse quality... Even still... looks worse than Oblivion :/
