I've been reading through the numerous posts here regarding terrible frame rate issues that occur later in the game, but I haven't had the opportunity to explore too far as my game is freezing constantly. The problem is that it is so sporatic (the point of freezing that is, both during intense gameplay and just standing still) that I can't isolate a root cause at all. After my initial game install to my PS3 (I have a 320gb Slim which is 3 weeks old), I could barely get into the game. After some reading, I disabled the autosave features totally and that seemed to allow for at least a few minutes of gameplay. Now I get maybe 5-10 minutes and my entire system locks up.

I thought maybe it was an overheating issue, but I played Uncharted 3 for roughly 5 hours straight the other night with no problems. And my machine was throwing off some serious heat before I stopped to let it cool. I can't seem to figure out if this issue is game related (i.e. on the disc) or if there is something I am missing on my system. I can't see any of the other issues that are being reported either like missing textures, flickering, etc.

Since the majority of topics here are just about lag, I'm hoping to see if anyone else is experiencing this lock-up during gameplay. I saw a few reviews that complained of this problem a few times during a full playthough, but not to the extent that I'm experiencing it.

Oh, and to clarify, Skyrim is one of only 4 games I have on my system (Skyrim, Resident Evil 5, Uncharted 3 and Demon's Souls), all of which run perfect with the exception of the aforementioned title.
