Game freezing on the first "mission"

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 1:32 am

Hi guys,

The game is freezing here on the first mission where I get that bike/ATV thing.

I'm able to use it but it freezes everytime when trying to get out of the "city" to head to the mission location. Already tried going the other way or from different angles.

It simply stops and I have to force the game to close.

I'm using the 285.38 Nvidia drivers, latest patch from Steam, and a customized rageconfig.cfg from the Steam forums. (after the patch the textures remained buggy but after using the rageconfig.cfg the graphics are perfect)

Here's my PC:

ASUS P8P67 DELUXE
Core i7 2600k 3.4ghz
8GB DDR3
EVGA GEFORCE GTX 480 1536mb

Paid $60 bucks, had to tweak in order for the graphics to work properly and still can't play because of the freezing.

When installing the video driver did you place a check mark to do a clean install?
If not I would reinstall the driver, pick custom install next screen look for check place to do clean install.

I tried the following:

- Use driver sweeper to clean the drivers
- Reinstalled 285.38 Nvidia drivers using the clean install option
- Loaded the game WITHOUT the rageconfig.cfg = graphics OK but still freezing on the same place
- Loaded the game WITH the rageconfig.cfg = graphics OK but still freezing on the same place

Summarizing, still freezing...

Yeah, same issue. Although with an ATi card. Had the stuttering problem previous, got that fixed finally and now it just crashes at the same point over and over.

...sigh.

Had the exact same problem here, and found a solution but not a fix mind you...
The game would always crash at the same point on mission 1, tried everything, going on ATV or walking past boulder with drone hovering above..

So i would start saving for every 3 secs, and noticed that if i crossed into the next maparea, and then saved.. guess what, i could continue to the first mission.

just completed the game with 3-4 subsequent ctd's at random locations, and game almost crashed a lot more but managed to recover just before windows let me kill it for hanging.

great game, tooooo short.. had to play with matrix like slowmo effect id say 30% of the time, but learned to like it.. headshots looks soo much cooler in slowmo :D

ohh another oddity for dualcore AMD cpus.. i tried everything and had unplayable freezes, until i read and applied a variable for the shortcut.. something with var processes or like that, found it elsewhere here in the forums..

this could have been a super classic, but mostly ill remember this game for being buggy. now back to deus ex

I also have the 285.38 drivers on a GTX580, i7 2600K (took the OC off). I get a jam when you enter the hideout and the first dude comes at you. I can kill him alright, but as soon as I try to cross a boulder this thing jams.

WTF, we pay 60$ for a game that doesn't work, and to top it off it's a CONSOLE PORT?!

Screw this dung, I will not buy anymore Id software. I'll give Bethesda another chance for Skyrim, but this is uncalled for. 60$ of crap and it doesn't work!
