I work for a games developer myself, and its terrible that you guys are having massive issues, but bugs like this can be a real [censored] to track down in a tiny linear 8 hour game so i can sympathise a little. Never experienced any issues myself on previous fallout games and currently with skyrim on the ps3 so im not entirely convinced this is an issue for everyone, and in a somewhat controlled dev studio enviornment and out sourced QA environment such things can slip through the net


I would suggest everyone who has this problem and i mean everyone. Post the following information, its only in your interests to do so if you want future patches to correct the issue once and for all

Type of PS3 you are using?

Firmware?

available hard drive space?

Size of Save game Data? (how many seperate skyrim saves and there sizes) Also if you can remember the size when the issue started occuring

Any previous Bethesida saved games and installs on your ps3? (never know, could cause a conflict)

Race of character/ Type of Character ? what character level?

How many items are you carrying? approx figure

how many places have you discovered on the world map?

amount of completed and initiated quests?

total play time?

when you reset the console, how long during gameplay do the issues re appear?

Connected to the internet while you are playing?

Framerate issues worse in 1st or 3rd person view

Which locations is framerate mostly taking hits

about 30 gb only got skyrim and bf3 on it

i have 5 saves each ones between 6 and 8mb in size, but the character i was playing before i started again i used 2 saves again around 6 to 8mb

nope none at all

khajitt level 22 but the same issues occured with my bosmer elf level 20

about 40, i carry alot of soul gems though

alot of places discovered this is what i think might actually be the problem some people are exploring the whole map which the games having to save where as some are jus doin abit of exploring and playing the quests which i think are the people claiming to have no problems, also on both of my characters the lag started as soon as i i fought my first dragon and they started apearing in the world i dont know if this has anything to do with it :S

i have about 6 iniated main quests and about 8 miscaleinos? (cant spell) ones, ive completed 3 main quests and 34 side ones

play time is 30 hours was 24 on my wood elf

when i reset i notice the lag straight away but it isnt unplayable after about 30 mins its awfull even my mrs who only thinks fifa and cod exist in the world of games commented on it sayin how can they release a game like that lol

1st go yes i was second go with my khajit no i wasnt

framerate issues exactly the same in any view for me

whiterun and markarth alot of loadin of npcs and that they just randomly pop in and the load times going inside any building/cave/house get worse and worse

I hope they atleast scroll through this if it was a bad game i wouldnt mind id just say oh well ive been burnt (dead island) but because the games amazing and after so many hours it goes pete tong its a big let down atm its like going to the cinema and only being allowed to watch half of the film

I have 2 saves at ~3mb which run perfectly fine and 2 saves at ~6 in which major issues with lag and framerate are starting to show.

I have oblivion, fallout 3, and fallout NV saves on my ps3

Nord - paladin type character lvl 27

Carrying about 150 weight worth of items

About 60 locations discovered and about 40 dungeons cleared

50 misc quests completed, 4or5 story quests completed, and 7 side quests completed.

~38 hours played

Sometimes the issues appear right away, sometimes it takes an hour or so.

Framerate issues worse in 1st or 3rd person view -SAME

Which locations is framerate mostly taking hits - Whiterun has the worst of the problems for me including 4-6 sec lockups

here r my specs 4 2 of my systems running it new ps3 320gig slim 2 weeks old 160gig fatboy 3years old latest firmware on new not on old 1 280gig on new 8mbs on old 2 save on each system 1auto 1 manual 6800kb new 7200kb old no games but skyrim on new have fallout nv on old on new ps3 imperial melee specialist lvl 21 on old ps3 dark elf theif lvl12 new ps3 220 carrying weight when sold all non essentials my companion runs 150 on old 150 carrying 89 carrying weight no companion new ps3 40 locales found ..about 20 on map not found but know of old ps3 20 locales found 10 not found new ps3 6 main are active 20 misc r active new 35 hrs old 18 hr new ps3 start 2 lag about 2 hours in old about 7 hours new ps3 connected old not connected it same in both view both systems whiterun lag the worst during daytime rifton is completely frozen on new ps3 i can interact with throwaway talk but nothing else no mission can be completeld old just the largest town get lag hopefully this helps i4 u guys if u need any more specs let us know

Type of PS3 you are using? -- The 120gb PS3 slim.

Firmware? -- The latest up to date.

available hard drive space? -- 66gb

(how many seperate skyrim saves and there sizes) Also if you can remember the size when the issue started occuring -- Frame rate and lag problems started pretty early in the game, Don''t know how many kb's my file was then, but it's now just over 8000 and the game's not even fun anymore.

Any previous Bethesida saved games and installs on your ps3? (never know, could cause a conflict) -- this should have nothing to do with it, but yes I have a few Oblivion saves.

Race of character/ Type of Character ? what character level? -- Breton Battlemage level 28.

How many items are you carrying? approx figure, -- tons of keys obviously, a whole lot of potions, and my armor and weapons, So I'd estimate around 100.

how many places have you discovered on the world map? -- All major cities. But not that many other places except where the main quest and the stromcloaks took me.

amount of completed and initiated quests? -- Not many other than the main quest and the stormcloaks.

total play time? -- just under 50 hours.

when you reset the console, how long during gameplay do the issues re appear? -- They always come back right after I restart, but they're not BAD until I play for a few hours.

Connected to the internet while you are playing? -- I've tried to play while, and while not. Little if any difference.
