Gstaff can we get an answer?

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 9:35 am

we want an answer from you since you're the voice of bethesda, can you confirm are you working on a patch to fix the texture problem, quest glitches and the gamesave problem? We the players hate it when we complain about serious problems and cant even get a simple yes we are working on it, so we dont have to make all these damn threads wasting time instead of doing something else, now is the time or is it the end of all hope?

Under the 1.1 update...

"Wanted to let everyone know that we are working on the next update for the game. Once we have more information on what that covers/fixes, we'll let everyone know"

For what that's worth.. :cryvaultboy:

He said they were working on a patch.

He didn't say what the patch would fix.

LOL, "rough days" Thats a bit melodramatic isn't it...
Sleepless nights, heart problems, life is at an end, feeling suicidal out of worry. LOL

"inconvenient" or "annoying" are probably more realistic. If your taking this that badly I really would advise a less stressfull leisure activity than computer games, or consider consulting a doctor for a possible bi-polar condition.

It's a game, that isn't working as you expected for a couple of days. Please, for the love of all that is sane, get some perspective.

Whereas I agree with you, can you imagine saying that to a rabid sports fan?

Usually they'll fix the Xbox 360 problem first cause, then prey some PC nerd will fix the problems on the PC, then maybe...maybe PS3 will get fixed.

We're working on updates for all three platforms right now. I'd love to share all the details of those, but until they're fully tested, we can't say exactly what's in and what's not.

We're continuing to monitor the forums... so please keep posting any issues you're having. Be as specific as possible (paths you took, level you're at, etc) -- the more we have to go on, the easier it is for us to replicate.

Thanks!

Is it possibly a huge batch of faulty discs that may require a product recall/replacement?

Please fix the AA or let me turn it off. I would rather have some jaggies then have everything blurred to hell.

Thank you for replying to this, it makes me feel a little better.

Please please please fix the lagging on this amazing game!
I will never have another first experience with it and the serious lagging is ruining it :sadvaultboy:

It sounds like a load of B.S. to me.

So assuming it's a leak in the save data, once they patch it ( if they patch it) will we have to start from the beginning? The fact is, these same problems have been prevalent in their other releases. Either they are incompetent or [censored]s; or simply a mixture of the two.

They most certainly knew about these issues but decided to release the game anyway. I wish I believed in a hell, so I could imagine these schmucks rotting away in it. We shouldn't need a patch to fix game breaking problems! We need to hold these [censored]ers' accountable!

I'm not a game designer but it seems they would have an intelligent way of testing and fixing games pre-release. Oh I don't know, perhaps check all quests, frame rate, saves etc, than focus on the minor things that EVERYONE WON'T DO...

Edit:

@GStaff

I'm at level 13 my save file is around 6600 KB and the frame rates have dropped so low the game is unplayable. Also, the textures up close are [censored]. That isn't a major deal, but thought I should throw it out there. You can add the flickering shadows to the mix of things that svck but aren't game breaking.

Let me guess, you will fix the shadows but not the frame rate or what ever the problem is right? Kind of like how the vampire glitch is still in my copy of Oblivion.

Cut 'em a break. This game took friggin forever to make, and every iota of detail is there, and although this is a big problem, we can only hope that the framedrop solution (or at least a dampening on the issue) comes soon. They are not pleased with a 'defective' product, and they feel it more than you do, I swear it. As PS3 users, we've gotten the short stick, but just bear with it, and with continued faith, Bethesda will haul [censored] out with a patch that'll make this game perfect... hopefully.

To be honest, I'm feeling like this is their Beta 2.0, just to test it on a larger scale than before.

I have experienced little to no lag, but textures on equipment as well as other objects will blur in and out. (this will happen in the items menu, merchant lists, and on character models) My loading times are ultra fast between zones though.

My gamesaves are at about 6100kb now.
My character is level 18.
I have done less than 20 side quests/objectives, ulocked three or four different shouts, and visited less than half of the cities.
I just found Esbern in the mainquest.
My inventory rarely goes above 100 burden points.
I have entered somewhere between 10-15 dungeons.
My highest skills are One-Handed at 50, and Sneak at 43. The rest of my main skills are hovering around 30.
I have learned a majority of the novice spells and use them frequently.

The paths that I have taken are just the main roads leading to each city or dungeon that is associated with the mainquest. I have been keeping the exploration to a minimum, because I want to keep the game fresh for multiple characters.

Just wanted to say that I too am having problems with flickering shadows - it's pretty jarring. Usually happens indoors when speaking to an NPC or sometimes on my own character when shadows hit him. They sort of shimmer and flicker. Also, whenever i enter and try to navigate around the menu screen after hitting "O" (where you can level up, select the map, items, etc.) i usually experience some delays and slowdown. Also, at the very beginning of the game when you are being led to the chopping block my game froze for like 20 seconds before finally working again. I thought i would have to reset but the game managed to un-hang itself. Please fix the flickering shadows and slow down Bethesda so we can enjoy this game in all it's glory! Thanks for listening.

The game "freezing" at the beginning was just the game creating a manual save just before character creation so that if you want to start a new game without watching the intro cutscene where you ride in the carriage, you can do so.

The slowdown by opening the character menu (O for PS3, B for 360) is the game autosaving. Turn autosaves off and this should alleviate that problem.

As for the shadow flickering, I don't have much of a problem with it. It's my opinion that every 10 seconds or so, the sun above moves in noticable increments to allow the appearance of time progression. That is the reason why shadows "flicker". In Oblivion, the sun moved more fluently and wasn't at "jumpy" but shadows still "flickered" for me. As for indoor shadows, you do realize that candlelight flames flicker, right? This particular system may be a bit buggy, but it shouldn't be game breaking. If anything, should the shadowing system actually be bugged, this may be the last thing they work on since it's not important.

i think most of us could deal with the flickering if the frame-rate was fixed.
