Jumping while dashing?

Why can't you do this. I say we mod this in if we can. Anyone agree?

Absolutely! There have been far too many instances in which I've wanted to perform a long jump whilst sprinting... and, embarassingly, a small number in which I've forgotten that I could not.

I have never actually used the dash function, and I say this even after beating the main quest. I actually didn't even realize there was one until I read about it on the forums today. Lol

Though yes, a sprinting long jump would be cool.

So whether you are running or walking, the jump distance doesn't change?

I'd be glad to just be able to jump while dashing. Making it go further would just be a plus. :)

Have you tried using the Whirlwind Sprint shout instead? Despite its description and animation of running, it's actually more of a short-range teleport - you can "sprint" across fairly large gaps (longer than any running long jump might be) without falling in. (The shout is gained pretty early in the main quest, so you're guaranteed to get it quite easily if you choose to do so.)

I did quite like the concept of that paticular shout, and used it a few times with the character I played who got so far as to obtain it, but mostly I simply always forget about the shouts whilst playing the game. They're an interesting twist on the formula, and certainly represent some unique effects, but to me are only supplementary gimmicks rather than reliable actions. To be fair, I am largely spoiled from playing Fallout: New Vegas with the delightful Project Nevada overhaul mod, which, among many other things, implemented a sprinting system almost exactly like what we now have in Skyrim, only one could both succesfully jump whilst sprinting and retain their momentum to cross larger distances.

This is already a perk in the onehanded tree, IIRC. Also, sprinting while blocking gives a benefit with the proper perks too.

You can't attack while dashing can you? I'm a mage so I never tried it. Come to think of it I don't think I can cast spells while dashing. Anyone remember?

You can attack with a weapon whilst sprinting, as both Two Handed and One Handed have mid-level perks benefitting from the actions. I've yet to play a mage, as I've an aversion to vanilla magic, but, since spells are now equipped in the same manner as weapons, it would seem a silly and rather arbitrary restraint to be unable to cast while sprinting.

Critical Charge (One-Handed Perk) and Great Critical Charge (Two-Handed Perk) allow a running power attack while sprinting at a large stamina cost. Attack is pretty devastating, though dealing double critical damage.

EDIT: Typos

Ah, well I see I'm not the only one who would like to see this implemented. I'm sure it's a rather simple fix.

You can both power attack while walking forward, and sprinting. I can also jump while sprinting..... >.> Though I'm not sure if it gets me any farther than running and jumping.

You can cast spells while dashing but it slows you down to the normal running speed.
