I Skyrim full of junk like Oblivion?

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 8:20 am

Being a thief in Oblivion wasn't as fun as Morrowind because there was nothing but junk in every home/castle in the world. Bethesda is so afraid of a low level player getting a powerful item that they made every static item in the world trash.

Is this different in Skyrim? I really miss Morrowind, where you could break into dangerous places and get expensive loot. As opposed to Oblivion where even if I pick a master lock in the largest castle in Cyrodil, I know there will be nothing back there but clay pots and pewter forks.

I hope there are more valuable items in houses. Like jewels and gems. Would be nice if they respawn too. :)

If you actually looted all that silver stuff, it added up in value quickly. I banked on that hardcoe with my thief.

It'd be nice to find better loot but it is doubtful. But we shall see.

It is in the spoiler section in case people have specific knowledge of items you can steal in the game. Like if someone were to mention a vault in some city, with some particular items, that would make it a spoiler thread.

I loved the junk in Morrowind and I hope it stays the way it was also in Skyrim. Getting rich too fast was easy anyway.

what bugged me about the junk was it was nearly always with weight identical to the value, kinda not worth grabbing. Personally if they put in rolls of cloth again i think we should be given a loom or cloth racks in our homes and we can actually USE the cloth we find in the game world to craft new clothing, maybe special enchanted cloth rolls hidden in the world to give the clothes magical benefits? Just an idea.

They need to put less tankards, cups, quills and pitchers in the game though, lol. I'd rather find different enchanted types of differently styled and coloured cloth instead of 50 tan pitchers like in oblivion -.-

I'm sure Bethesda has learned a few lessons though :)

Yes I hope there is a lot junk in houses too, but they should at least (in middle-class + homes) include locked chests with armor, or locked jewelry boxes containing valuable gems and jewelry. It just makes sense for most people to have at least 1 valuable possession, something that was missing from Oblivion, and it made thieves kind of useless.
