I would hate to lose all my current progress.
Please Bethesda, can you answer this?

its 1.2 not 1.02 but tbh I'd be happy starting a new game if the problem was fixed.

they haven't even addressed whether or not this will even fix the lag.

Much less how it will be applied and how we will have to prepare.

Unless the patch specifies that it in fact fixes the lag issue, I'm not starting over. I recommend everyone start over if the patch notes specify a fix. Most likely unless you start over you're going to have the same problem.

Good thing I quit playing as soon as the frame rate started deteriorating. I put 24 hours in, only completed a hand full of quests, so I won't lose much. However I didn't run into any quest glitches, which now I'm afraid I'll run into if/when I have to restart.

I agree. I like my file, but if I have to get rid of it in exchange for a working game... yeah no problem.

I read somewhere that it may require a new save due to corruption of the previous file, but at this point in time, I don't think it's possible for anyone to know for a fact. We don't know if it's a corrupt file or, well, anything really. It's all just a guessing game at this point.

I've already had to start all over due to the Autosave glitch, saving over my previous data. I was level 20 then, and I'm 26 on this character. I'd hate to restart yet again after getting so far

I put a ridiculous amount of hours in before I quit because it kept lagging too much.

But I would gladly restart if it meant the problem was 100% fixed forever and always.

It's usually somewhat difficult to make a patch that applies to existing saved games - typically you'll have to start over when something is changed in a game engine. That may not absolutely for sure be the case, but I would say that it's pretty likely you'll need to start a new game to see the effect of any patch.

Don't jump the gun. They've said nothing as to what they will fix. If both Fo3 and FNV had this same problem and never got fixed then I ain't holding my breath,.

Wait, What? Whats all this mention about loosing the save files for patching?
I already started a new character again just to fix the lag temporarily and both got into 30+ hours, please tell me I won't have to start again....

To be honest, I couldn't care less about starting over if it meant the troubles would disappear. I mean, I'm a good twenty hours in, and I'm gonna keep playing until the patch, but I'm not that hung-up on my current character. Sure, he's cool and all, but there are a few things I would do a bit different now that I know a few things better. But again, if it means playing or not, I'm good with starting over.

I am no expert but from experience you patch the game, load your save, save your game again and the save should be patched.. thats the way it works in most other games anyway. Could be different if this problem is caused by the savefile and not the other way around.

Anyway, started a new character today and it speaks volumes about this game that its even more fun the second time around. If i have to do it again post-patch? Awesome, new excuse!
