49+ Perks, too much?

The notion that you have to start over just because you've become powerful amuses me so much. I've had characterS in Oblivion on which I played over 100 hours AFTER maxing out the last of their skills, and for which the majority of total playtime was recorded after maxing out.

For many of us, the growth-phase of a character is just a tiny part of his journey. Its good to be king.

If you're complaining about the fact that dragons are scaled ur ridiculous. If they weren't you'd die the second you start the main quest. I assume that near the time you get to level 40 those dragons will be monsters that you will be tired of restarting over.
I'd rather play a game à la Risen / Gothic where I know I can't fight certain foes at low level. As a low level character you should only run when seeing a dragon.

I sincerely hope that singlehandedly slaying a dragon at level one is impossible. That said, based on what we saw in Oblivion I would not be at all surprised if it is possible. In the latter case I will simply be looking to mod difficulty into the encounters as before.

Nothing is ever impossible to kill without Essential flagging in realtime gameplay. If it bleeds, it dies.

After reading about people fighting and killing dragons a very low level I am beginning to wonder if I will ever bother to take a character up to level 50. Will I ever really use 49+ perks. I see all these people making these 49+ perk builds, but will any of them really happen? I can't even image how powerful we'll be in this game by the time we're 20+ level. If I can knock out the MQ at level 25, will I really want to keep playing that character until they get to level 50?

I made many many spreadsheets with MW and OB characters on them. Built into the spreadsheet was a calculator that would calculate (assuming no jail time) the maximum level for the character. I have never, in 100+ characters between the two games, ever had a PC get to that max level.

Honestly I think building a character around about 30 perks with only 2 skills maybe being maxed at 100 is a lot more realistic.

Thoughts?

I guess it depends on what you want to get out of the game. If you just want to do the MQ and a few side quests, then I'm sure you'll never come close to max level or deep perk builds.

Many of us plan to explore literally every square inch of the game, get every achievement, put in 300 hours, then do it all over again every time some DLC comes out. Doing that, it's likely we'll go beyond level 50 even, and with that much time invested, even 49 perks may not feel like enough.

Actually youll hit level 75 far before the 300 hour mark.

Level 50 comes surprisingly quick. Leveling is fast. Those doing "just" the main quest and the side quests they encounter on the road will likely finish around 50.

For an average player, I'd say level 50 after 30 hours, level 75 after 100 hours.

As usual, "slower skill growth" mods will be critical for those of us who like taking things slow and playing 300 hours.

You forget that you wont lvl after you maxed the skills you're using. So there can be lvl 30 characters with 300 hours on their back.

There are 79 perks available in game (74 from levels, 5 from a quest), NOT 49 ... and NO its not too much. Its a few points short of a third of the perks, as designed.

As for getting to 50, you WILL get there, leveling is very fast up to that point. Getting to 75 will take a bit more dedication but its entirely doable if you plan to really explore the world and play 100+hrs on a character.

5 perks from quest? Do you chose which ones you want or they are particular?

I totally know what you mean, LeBurns. In Oblivion I never even got a character to level 30. I have been planning out my Skyrim characters but have tried to be conservative, keeping 30-35 Perks in my final builds.

Definitely not enough :)
