For an armor difference total of 19. Is this before they've been upgraded?

WHAT? These numbers are too low! Dragon armor should be much better tan this!

Or.. they're too high! Dragon armor is overpowered!

Or maybe they're just right?

Without context, it's hard to tell.

Oh! - that's intresting:
Dragonplate Gauntlets: armor 19, weight 8

If the top tier gauntlets only offer +19 in hand to hand, it helps put khajiit's racial hand to hand bonus into perspective (+15) - khajiit in hand to hand really do have a BIG bonus

All in all, the heavy variant is about ~14.7% more armor with the shields included. If you aren't using a shield, dragonplate is about ~16.8% more armor than dragonscale.

So there is a difference between the two which is refreshing. I was a little worried that it'd be like Oblivion but with light armor being easier on stamina use.

Wow so it seems that the real question between choosing heavy armor and light armor is do you want more stamina regen (something that you can probably enchant? ) or reduced stagger duration. Though any half decent warrior will have smithing that makes armor difference a bit bigger, and don't forget that you get +150% armor if you are fully specced in it.

Add in the fact that light version has a 10% to avoid any melee damage, and heavy 10% chance to return any recieved damage, you actually have a pretty balanced choice :)

You could say that heavy armor is a bit better, but it takes 2 more perks to fully spec into it

Also does anyone know how much can you upgrade your armor? The highest upgrade gives Epic prefix to your armor when you max Smithing, is it 25% or something else?

wow, u know per the defense to weight ratio between light and heavy it makes more sense to just go with light. there is only a few points difference between light and heavy defense value but a rather huge gap in wieght. i think i know what im gonna master first lol. thanks for the info

Armor weight nothing when you equip it with high enough skill. I guess that also means that you could sneak in heavy armor since noise is based on weight

Is Dragon armor just for smithing or can we find it later in game?

It makes you invincible against giants and similar brutes if you have Smithing. I think that combination of dual wielding and heavy armor will be the way to go as a warrior, you won't care about stagger and will be able to make up for lack of block

Wait, is this at 100 skill? Lets remember that armor rating is bound to your skill level, maybe this character had a higher light armor skill :P

In my view, if you're dual wielding then you're attacking twice as often as single wielding and thus using twice the stamina. And the dual wield perks increase attack speed further, till you're using almost 3 times the normal stamina consumption for combat. At that point, the "wind walker" light armor perk starts sounding pretty attractive to me.

Look at it this way: fighting with dual weapons is not about constant DPS, it's about a high burst DPS. The longer you fight the more you suffer, and when there are 2 guys beating on you and the guy you are attacking is constantly blocking your attacks you will get staggered and unable to connect your attacks. If you use stamina potions in such tight situations you will always outperform the guy in light armor

There is a perk in Heavy Armor to make it weightless...so in theory, you can use one perk and your heavy will weigh less than the light armor....

True, but there are a few perks in the way of that weightlessness perk. The perks in the way seem quite situational, which I'd guess is to make people have to spend more than 1 perk for the weightlessness if that's their primary objective.

To get conditioning, you'd need a point in fists of steel, which buffs your hand-to-hand damage and a point in cushioned, which reduces fall damage. I personally don't care at all about those perks, but I would love to have conditioning. Thus it comes for me (and possibly others) at the cost of effectively 3 perk points.

Not an insignificant tradeoff, as 2 of those perks (for me) could go somewhere else. So I'd say it's a pretty fair trade for cutting out a major downside of heavy armor.

I agree. I said this same thing in another thread.
