Skyrim PC - Steam - "The game is currently unavailable&#

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 11:26 am

Hi, I would be asking this on the steam forum but since they are down i'll ask here.

Steam says to me when I try to run the game, "This game is currently unavailable please try again at another time"

Has anyone else has this issue?

I live in New Zealand and have Windows 7/ 32 bit installed.

Thanks

Most probably you need to patch the game.
I had that issue with another game and it was because i didn't check that Steam should patch the game automatically.

I'm in the same boat.

I live in Japan and steam say the game is not available!

When can people in Asia be able to play this game? Its past 12am (East coast)in the States.

Or is this game reagion base and only people in the states can play. Please let me know if I have to return my game back to the store once I don't live in the States.

This is how I solved it: Right click on Skyrim on Steam, go to Properties -> Local Files and press "Verify integrity of game cache". In my case, it found a corrupt file and re-dowloaded and I could finally play. Hope this helps

As sopabuena said, verify your game cache. Steam can sometimes bug on game start. If after verifying, you still get the "unavailable message" then go into your steam folder manually, and find your Skyrim.exe, and double-click on it. That should work. If not, you can contact Steam tech support and they will ask you to give them some debug information which they will explain to you on how to get it. Usually if none of that works, your computer is the issue.

Had this a couple of times with Fallout: new vegas and Dead Island.
Deleting the ClientRegistry.blob in my Steam folder always worked for my.

P.S.: By reading this, you declare not to hold me responsible for crashed steam accounts

I can get it to run through the TESV file but its not fullscreen and doesn't run through steam.

All of the other solutions havent worked.

Thanks for your help though.

Ensure all your drivers are up-to-date. If all else fails and you meet the system requirements, then Bethesda might have to work on a bug or compatibility issue with something in your system.

I verified and it worked. Now, I don't know if verifying *caused* it to work, of course, but...
