About to buy Skyrim until now

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 11:01 am

I was anticipating Skyrim for a long time. However when I asked my friends about the game they said they had frame rate drops, freezes and glitches. I actually saw in one case when I was watching him the screen paused for 18 seconds then resumed but at a mere maybe 10-18 frames. I just wanted to stop by here if you guys could give me some info on what's happening. I don't want to purchase a laggy game. I heard it's the game saves when you get to around 8mb. Anyways thanks for any info.

I'm above 9mb and haven't had any issues yet, but plenty of other people have.

Bethesda is working on a patch that should hopefully fix this, so I say buy it.

No buy it.. The problem doesn't happen until you reach 5-8 MB's on your game save file.. which is about anywhere 35- 50 hrs of game play.. There is a patch coming out supposably the week after thanksgiving.. so that might fix stuff and fix the issue ( or Bethesda is fixing the issue )..

DON'T BUY IT. Wait until we (the users, not idiot Bethesda) confirms it works, before you waste your money.

I'm in the same boat as you. I really wanna play the damn game (ps3 is my only option). I might just wait a couple more days and watch this thing blow up as more and more people reach the lag MB threshold. And a proper Bethesda confirmation on the issue would be nice to see

Meh, I'd wait. Yes, you can get 25-30 hours of play time, maybe more. However there's more than just the framerate issues.

Yes, it'll all be fixed with the patch, but what about the framerate? Will that be fixed? The hopeful say yes, while the bitter people who apparently have been through this twice(or more) before, yet continue to buy Bethesda's games, are claiming it won't be fixed.

Who knows if this issue can be fixed? We won't know until the patch, or patchES, are released over time.

I would hold off until the first patch is released. Bethesda apparently rushed this game out without accurately testing it. Allow us to do the testing for you once the patch comes out

Ok thanks I would rather wait for patch 1.2. If it won't fix the problem I will might just as well wait until they fix it eventually.

I would wait. I'm not holding my breath that this will be fixed within the next couple of weeks.

Agreed. I'm having frame rate issues also. My save file is almost 7mb.

If you have managed to hold off until now, then 2 weeks more wont hurt, right? I wish i had waited... Should have known better than to buy a Bethesda game on launch...

But as other's have said, wait until Bethesda releases their "fix" (Which many people, including myself, don't think will actually cure this problem) to see if users experiencing problems are satisfied with the results.

I know many people have said they don't have a problem, but do you really want to run, what is to some, an expensive risk?

Even if this fix does somehow work, i would implore you to look at other platforms if that is a possibility. I don't think there is any doubt in the minds of a lot of people, that the Ps3 is the platform at the bottom of Bethesda's priorities.

I'm starting to think Bethesda games aren't worth buying at all. If you are lucky and don't have any problems with unplayability, then maybe they're great, but no point in buying games like Fallout/elder scrolls/brink if you can't even play them..

Sad, but true. I don't own a 360 myself, but if I have to exchange my PS3 and it's games for a 360 and one working copy of Skyrim, then so be it. I don't heavily game. I would easily be satisfied by doing this since the only games I play are Elder Scrolls and some MMO's on the PC.

It's sad that it would even have to come to me even just thinking about it.

I'm waiting until the patch of course, but I'm ready to do the extreme if it needs to be done.

I normally never buy games at launch or pre-order. For one reason you don't know what your getting into. Bethseda is the number 1 ticket to glitch universe.

I hope you meant 6mb lol

Best of luck to you, seriously. I don't wish this upon anyone. I hope it stays this way for you.

Not to be a Debbie Downer but, my problems didn't kick in until 6.7-6.9mb. When I heard that at 5mb-6mb was the kicker, I looked at my save file and brushed a sigh of relief. Now, at over 7mb, I can only play for an hour or so before the game begins to stutter. Even at that point, it's playable, but just barely.

Again, I think we all hope it stays working for you. If you experience it, do what I'm doing. Back away, breathe, and heavily start limiting your play time.

Unless you have the time to play 20 hours a day you won't hit the point that people say they experience problems. By that time 1.2 will be released.

Buy the game, don't let a bunch of over dramatic self-entitled spoiled rotten gamers deter you from it. I'm 30h in with a 7.5MB save file and haven't experienced much other than a minor frame rate blip in Whiterun. Everywhere else has been fine.

i'm above 8.5mb for my save and have some occasional frame rate issues but they last for about 5-10 secs and then stop and the rest of play time runs smoothly. I have a 120gb slim model if that helps. I really feel for everyone having issues because the game is really fun. I hope that bethesda patches it so that other people can enjoy it as much as me.
