You know what's nearly as annoying as this problem?

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 8:51 am

You guys.

I've been lurking here a while, because I am concerned about whether my game will degenerate into a laggy mess, and here seems to be the most active place about it. I'm currently at over at 8mb and I've experienced a small about of slowdown and I can feel the aiming isn't as responsive as it was. But anyway, the reason I made the topic is to express that this community is full of immaturity and it isn't helping Skyrim PS3 owners' cause. I've seen posters here who seem to be so blinded by anger their sense of logic and rationality have gone completely out the window.

Firstly: Can people please QUIT using the argument: "EVERYONE is experiencing this problem with the game! Just look at this forum!". It may be true that every copy of the game has this issue. But you do not know this. And you CANNOT know this from looking at this forum alone. Users of this forum are a minority against Skyrim PS3 players who do not use the forum. People whose games are working just fine do not come to sub-forums which are about help with glitches/problems with their game. I am not advocating that you cannot have the opinion that all copies of the game have this issue. I am merely asking you not to claim knowlege and then quoting THIS as a source, because it is not a representative source.

Secondly, some people here seem to have become borderline paranoid in frustration that their game has broken. I understand that you're annoyed. But there is no need to lash out on anything and everyone. I saw someone say that they now cannot trust Gamesradar because they reviewed PS3 Skyrim well and they think they could not have put enough time into the game. No reviewer can be expected to put over 25 hours into a game JUST to see if it is broken, even Skyrim. They have deadlines. They have other games to play. Companies: including Bethesda, are not 'against' you. This is not a conspiracy. They screwed up, and they need to rectify their error. Lots of companies screw up. Lots of companies put out defective models and have to fix the problem.

Thirdly, less panic and more action please. Reporting that you have a problem with your game is good. Whining about Bethesda and Bethesda's past experience is not. Do you really think that that is going to make them more likely to help you?

And finally, perhaps what has annoyed me most is the people that go around saying things like "What did you expect from Bethesda! This is your fault for buying the game". I adore the Elder Scrolls games, I have done since Morrowind. Skyrim is the game of my dreams. The PS3 is the only means I have of playing it. People who say this seem to assume that there don't exist Elder Scrolls fans who have no other option of playing the game on any other system. It is NONE OF OUR FAULTS for buying the game. It is Bethesda who have screwed up, not us. But if you want to help Bethesda help us, then please- have a cool head and approach this like advlts, not like whiny kids which is what a lot of you appear to be. Report your problems, and by all means keep pestering Bethesda- but do not result to blind immaturity and stupidity because if I were Bethesda then that kind of attitude would certainly make me far less likely to support your cause.

Yes but many of us have reported the problems and we are getting little to none answers on what they plan/are doing about it, sure they told us about the patch but they haven't even told us if it will fix the frame-rate issues or not. Also it should not matter what kind of attitude anyone has or has not concerning their problem, Bethesda is a company and they should support their customers no matter how rude, arrogant or idiotic they may be. Now don't get me wrong I do agree that some things have been said in here that are childish but I completely understand their frustration at this, seeing as how I am one of them. Anger can make people say or do stupid things, but we shouldn't be penalised for things said in anger.

Yes, you describe a small amount of slowdown. But the rest was as unhelpful as the things which you're complaining about, although I agree that people with complaints should learn to moderate their language if they're to be taken seriously at all.

Being 'angry' does not give you a magic ticket to be rude or stupid. And I know they haven't told us whether the patch will fix the frame-rate issues or not. But as another user here pointed out quite rationally- they are not necerserily allowed to say what a patch contains before it gets approval from Sony. Some people seem to think Bethesda WANT their fan-base to be unhappy. This is not the case. There is reason to be more upset at them if the patch doesn't fix it however.

I didn't say being angry did anything, but it still isn't something that can be helped, people get angry, we say irrational things but again as I said we should not be penalised for it as you implied by saying " if I were Bethesda then that kind of attitude would certainly make me far less likely to support your cause." they are a big company and cannot afford to be upset or annoyed at peoples attitudes, but my point was not to argue with anyone I was simply giving my two cents. I also understand about the patch but it doesn't make it any less annoying that we get vague non-answers about the frame-rate issue.

My post was in the interest of trying to help the community be more helpful to other users and to Bethesda. I feel this is important.

IMO anger on the forums is a good thing. It has already got us media attention.

You do actually have a point, if everyone was acting calm and rationally it probably wouldn't have gotten the attention it deserves.

I am sympathetic to what you're saying. I probably worded my posts in a more snarky tone than I really meant, so sorry about that. My heart does sink a bit when I see thread titles all in caps and the OP filled with censored words. If I were a Beth employee reading stuff like that I just wouldn't be able to take it seriously.

Well I definitely agree with you on the swearing and posts with all caps, it's completely unnecessary, but most posts seem to be pretty reasonable.
