Two handed weapon speed

Just wondering, for those who've played -- are 2h weapons noticeably slower than one handed ones? If so, is it a problem, or do they just feel heavy and powerful?

when you try to do power attacks they feel slow and if you miss the enemy will punish you for it. They do feel heavy and powerful. They are awesome

They are 6/10-8/10 as fast as 1 handed weapons.

I certainly hope you're joking! From the report I have read two handed weapon seem to do twice the damage of one hanted weapon . double damage at 60% of the speed is pretty damn pityfull increase in dps. Definitly not worth losing the shield with the immunity to arrows and half immunity to magic. Hopefully this is wrong info . Either they're faster than you claim or they deal more damage than other people claimed.

The person you quoted gave a range of 60-80% speed, and you fixated on 60%. Calm down son, it's interfering with your ability to read.

Every one I've seen who has played with both 2 handers and one handers has ended up going with 2 handers, so they can't be too horrible. If anything, 2 handed melee looks a bit OP compared to other styles, but I don't think any one is complaining because it feels epic to impale some one on a claymore.

I personally go for one handed over two handed always. Now with skyrim I probably won't use any moretwo handed anyway since you cant use magic with them.

I've seen plenty of footage involving 2-handed weapons. Normal swings are not really slow but powerattacks are. If you are not careful, it's quite easy to miss the enemy with powerattacks that go from top to bottom. I imagine that side powerattacks are the safest bet.

what people "feel" is irrelevant, numbers are all that matter even with a 0.8 speed factor then two handed weapons barely give a 60% dps increase over single sword., assuming they do twice the damage per hit.

A fully maxed out dual wielder tripple the dps of a sword and shield user. 60% damage increase versus 200% increase, it's not even a contest. the only problem with dual wielding is that having to constantly spamm both of your mouse button is gonna feel weird for most PC user, and being forced to do it 3 or 4 times per second could get old very quickly.

The whole dps concept is invalid when the oposition can block, especially if this can stagger you. Shield using will be overpowered but not because of dps. It will be because armor increase, arrow and spell parring, charging with shield...

Is there a range difference from 2H to 1H? I would see this as an advantage also...
