How to Fix Flickering Decals & Transparent Dragon Wing

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 2:40 pm

Sorry for starting a whole new topic for this but this forum is getting a little chaotic for people to find solutions.

This is for people experiencing the partially invisible Khajiit, the erratic disappearance and reappearance of details, overall patchy specklyness (not the black spots of doom), etc.

You will know if you have this problem most of all if when the guy says "stay close to the wall !!!!" and the dragon comes down, it's wing flickers with transparency.

Turn off all antialiasing, then in 'advanced' tick the box that says FXAA.

For me it not only solved the glitches, it also gave an overall MAJOR performance boost.

Thanks. I had weird flickering textures, where I would either see grass or cobblestones depending on which way I was looking, some people's armor would turn transparent, etc. Turning off AA and and turning on FXAA fixed that for me.

This is with a HD5870 1GB on High settings at 1920x1080, on a i7 920. Using 4xAF along with FXAA, I am getting a completely steady 60fps. I just started playing so I haven't tweaked other graphics settings yet, just took the defaults from the launcher. Based on the FPS I am getting now, I obviously have room to bump some of the settings up.

Actually for me it was fixed by going into Catalyst Control Center->gaming->3d application settings and clicking default.

This is a possible fix for ATI users :)

Doing this fixed FPS issues and clipping issues for me. Went from 30-34 FPS to no lower than 60 FPS.
