Rolof MAJOR STORY STOPPER GLITCH

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 8:40 pm

I just wanted to address a major glitch. Currently, I am chillen with the storm cloaks and am looking to liberate the Reach. On the quest when you need to find Rolof (he is out scouting) and you need to take out the caravan (this information was given by the Jaarl's uncle) that is holding weapons and silver, is where the problem is.

The quest runs through smoothly. You locate Rolof and basically go whack the crap out of the caravan (not very tough).

GLITCH PART:

After the caravan is taken over, the next quest item is to speak with Rolof. At this time, all Rolof does is stand on the rock above the caravan with the arrow above his head and when you go talk to him all you get is the AI responses. No question prompts, just stupid automatic responses. His moron soldiers are walking around like idiots too with bows and swords drawn threatening to shoot holes through the tent and possibly hack up an imperial pillow...

Methods I have tried to find a solution:

1. Go back to the Stormcloak Camp (as well as Ulthric) to see if they can break the chain because the quest was done = FAIL

2. Knock Rolof of the ledge using a horse to put him on top of the caravan = FAIL

3. Wait a week and try talking = FAIL

4. Continue other Main Story Line Quests and returning to original quest = FAIL

5. Making sure there is NO ENEMIES OR DRAGONS in a huge radius = FAIL (I tried this because I discovered earlier if there is a dragon flying around and you can hear it, even it is a 100 miles away, you cant talk to someone who has a quest till you kill it, fast travel away from it or run farther away till it disappears in order to talk to the person. This also hold true with enemies.)

6. Killing everyone (Rolof does a fall to one knee prior to respawn thing) = FAIL

Basically the Stormcloak take-over of Skyrim is put on a dead hold because of this glitch making my 24 hours of logged gameplay.....well....worthless because I cant move forward in the MAIN story line.

Is there a patch coming out for this or is anyone having the same problem? Would love to hear thoughts, let me know.

I was just about to suggest going for a dragon hunt when I read the topic but I see you already tried that :/. Rolof decided to have a coffeebreak for a few weeks until I defeated the blood dragon idling in a nearby mountain on my playthrough.

I hope you get it sorted mate, my septims are on that there still is some enemy out there, but sounds like you've checked it rigorously enough :/.

It could be related to the gameplay over time issue. Alot of my quests would not work. Reloading helped at first but now more and more I just get the response and no actions at all from NPCs. Hang in there. I hope you get it resolved either way.

Wow, you telling me this happens more in the game? It just is a major letdown because I cant continue my main quest, like, I can't officially beat the game now. Let me know if you find out a way to fix the NPC issues your having. Did they end up happening more frequently as you got farther in?
