Have you tried deleting the game cache and installing directly from Steam?

Yes, originally tried via steam. Then based on similiar issue I read, I directly installed from CD. Both have resulted in the same error.

Its only a 8hr d/l  Try this first and if all fails then do what he said ..... Verify integrity of game cache, then defragment cach files. Once done reboot and do the Verify integrity of game cache and see what it gives you. If you still have 1 file fail then uninstall the game via steam and reboot and then reinstall game via steam when you go to bed. I hope we gave you some help good luck w/ it.

I verified/defragmented and still had same issue. Uninstalled and reinstalled via Steam, thus the long waited responseL:-) Still same issue, after launch, just gives the error above. When I run the steam verify integrity, same 1 file missing. More ideas?

Well truth be told I dont understand the error so I could be fully out to lunch on this. But what ati driver are you on and do you have any rageconfig you made or did you add anything in the rage start up command line w/ steam ? Im looking at your error more and this ...... Fault Module Name: atioglxx.dll....... makes me think its the ati driver but I could well be wrong. When you put in a new ati driver have you uninstalled old one reboot and use driver sweeper {free d/l} to fully remove the old ati driver and reboot again then install new driver? I also want to ask once you get the error does it just shut down or can you play ? And if you can play how is it stable or do you get issues ingame ?

You are mostlikely running a older ati driver when i had 11.6 rage would not reconize the opengl. You will need 11.9 but get ready for a slue of other issues because atm rage is very finicky with ati and the beta drivers that does fix it ( the 10 beta for rage bf3 ) tends to cause issues with other open gl games like doom3.

I'm having pretty much the same problem. Have downloaded it multiple times and it crashes on startup every time, with pretty much the same error, and fails the check on the files...

Am running 64 bit Windows 7, could that be an issue? Highly annoying.....

Yeah, ATI, though it is the AMD Radeon HD 6750M. Will do the update drivers thing, but not sure that is the issue here. The Steam download fails the integrity check. I have actually downloaded it multiple times, but..... I would actually like to hear from Steam about it. If it continues to fail I will have to ask for my money back.... (sigh)

I have the same problem, but I also have this problem when launching the game before anything comes up:

GL_ARB_draw_elements_base_vertex not found

Sony Vaio VPCCW22FX
Windows 7 Home Premium x64
Nvidia GT 330M
4GB RAM
i3 M330 - 2.16GHz

Updated Rage
Updated Steam

I believe my problem may be that Sony doesn't have the new drivers for download and that I need drivers greater than 8.16.*

EDIT:

I have fixed the problem!!!! I can now play rage!!!!!!!!!

I went to this link: http://blog.komeil.com/2010/04/nvidia-driver-windows-7-notebook-laptop.html

And after a reboot I was finally able to play the game! Some pop-ins still remain, but it is better then nothing

I'm running Rage on windows 7 64 bit and no issues here. so it's not an os problem.
