I was wondering if shortswords make an appearance in Skyrim, as so far i've only seen greatswords and swords. It doesn't really bother me, i was just wondering

I suppose they are in, they just aren't considered a separate category from other swords.

I guess all one handed swords fall in the same category, but I'm sure there will be different range and speed. So they certainly will be swords you can qualify as short swords, but there isn't any short swords specific category.

I think what he may be asking is if there are Shortswords in the sense that they have different characteristics from longswords. Slightly less damage and faster swing speeds for example.
