Bethesda, Please Give Us An ETA

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 7:37 am

Let me start by saying that I LOVE Skyrim. I've spent 25+ hours doing absolutely nothing. No main quests, only a handful of sidequests, only exploring the main cities and towns, no dungeon crawling, etc. But in Skyrim, doing nothing is fun as hell.

As much as I love Skyrim, however, I am very worried each time I play it. Due to the texture glitch, I, like many others, am having to play it from the disc. This is a problem for me because my XB360 is already running in a hot environment (80s to 90s F on average) and playing games from the disc only intensifies the problem, and a game like Skyrim is one you can't put down after just an hour or two. In other words, every day I play Skyrim from the disc, I'm playing Russian Roulette with my XB360.

I've tried playing other games while waiting for the update. I can't play ANYTHING else for more than fifteen or so minutes at a time without going back to Skyrim. I even tried playing Skyrim from the HDD, but the blurry mess of textures made me sick.

PLEASE Bethesda, if it's not too much trouble, could you give us an ETA on the update? I don't think anyone expects an exact date since there are obviously variables, but could you guys possibly narrow it down to the week of? I LOVE playing Skyrim SO much, but I don't want to risk destroy my XB360 in the process of playing it unless I have some sort of idea of when to expect the update.

Whether or not you guys answer my plea, thanks anyway for making a masterpiece like Skyrim as well as having already started to work on fixing the texture glitch and other various issues. Despite the issues with Skyrim, IMO, Skyrim is Game of the Year 2011 for sure.

Bethesda doesn't respond to these types of threads sadly. It's like they don't really read their own forum.

I wish they would though.

Nick Breckon did give a quick update on what they are doing.

They are still gathering info/data on what needs to be fixed.

I feel as if I should wait until the next patch and not play at all until thn, but it is so so hard. Too hard. So now I am just avoiding any big quests, just doing little misc objectives, and exploring, and messing around in dungeons, and trying not to play TOO much until the patch.

The only glitch bothering me is the one preventing me from finishing the Dark Brotherhood quests.

Just submerge it in cool water if it gets too hot.

Run it from a USB.
I was thinking, what would I rather have dying, the 360 or a USB stick that I can easily replace.
But then I noticed that once the game is loaded and cached it hardly ever accesses the USB.
Plus bad textures are few and far between.

I've just tried the USB method after playing off the disc mostly since release date. I hadn't much hope for this method but I have to say I was VERY pleasantly surprised! It takes longer to install the game onto the USB but the read times are what's important, and on USBs they are generally twice as quick as that of the Xbox's DVD drive.
