Will Spawning Dragons Bring LAG?

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 6:37 pm

I'm 63 hours in and my save is 12 MB. My LAG isn't too bad at all. I haven't started the MQ yet though. Will processing it far enough to start having Dragons spawn be the straw that breaks the camels back. Is not having Dragons spawn saving my frame rate?

I'm going to have to say yes. Of course, I have no definitive proof, but dragons are one of the things that can bring the game to a crawl. Case in point; when my game starts randomly lagging for no apparent reason, I look to the skies to see if there is a dragon. And generally, there is. Could go differently for you though...

Is it fine for you when Dragons don't spawn?

I was about 50 hours in without killing the first dragon. Decided to go ahead and do it...that is when i started lagging...I have since rebuilt my hard drive database which seems to have fixed the issue.

I am not buying it, I know ps3 has some frame rate problems but unless you have some 7 year old tired ass ps3 I am not buying that a dragon, is going to chaff and break your game...

Come'on talk about poking the man in his eye....

Now everything will make lag, rain, fast travel, and when you get your [censored] kicked it will be the lags fault oh ya, I am getting it now...

Let Bethesda make their move...

I'm 90+ hours into and it's ok, lags here and there but nothing so bad I cant play. After a few hours it progressively gets worse so I just play in breaks. Most popular blame for the problem is memory leaks, I'm inclined to agree considering how things go. Could be something else, dunno.

Read the forums and look for things that make Skyrim lag on the PS3, plenty of threads. You know what's one of the most repeated things said? Dragons. Why might that be? Eh, I don't know. But based on personal experience I do know dragons CAN make your game lag, especially after you've been playing a while. Simple fact. Does that mean dragons will absolutely make his game lag, no. But with 60+ hours in, it's a good possibility. But since you want to be a sarcastic *oh let's be creative*, water does seem to make the game lag at times. Rivers, the ocean, lakes. All seem to cause slight lag. Oh and no actually lag has yet to kill me, but when I die and it's lagging I'll be sure to blame it.

P.S.
Stealth based characters don't die, especially not ones with invisibility. Lag or no lag.

Troll more.

almost this exact thing happened to me

by Ultimate Skyrim Fan in another thread:

"then when one did attack (the one at mount anthor, next to saarthal ruins near winterhold) it just flew around my head for ages as i was trying to get my horse out of the way, knowing it would do it's usual suicide attack on it, when out of the clear blue it dropped down right in front of me causing my horse to rear and me to soil my underwear. it was so cool, it was HUGE, it's face was about a foot from mine, breathing on me and just staring at me with this horribly satisfied look on it's face like it was letting me know how puny i was before it ate me...... 30 seconds later it was still staring at me as i hacked it to death while my horse kicked it in the face until it slid to the bottom of the mountain without so much as singeing my hair or frosting my face a bit. my goddam HORSE kicking this massive dragon in the face then watching it slide stupidly down the mountain ass first was the lamest thing i have ever seen."

It was also one of the lamest things i'd ever seen.

Whenever a Dragon spawns in my game the frame rate goes from about 10-15fps to about 1-5 fps, in peaks and valleys, with dragons not responding to my attacks or refusing to initiate combat no matter what i do.

I came across a giant fighting a dragon near the Western Watch Tower at Whiterun. Well i thought he was fighting a dragon. Turned out the "fight" consisted of the giant smacking the dragon around the head while it just sat there looking at him.
Then, every so often, he would hit the dragon up into the air, and i mean about 75 feet clear off the ground, where the dragon would flop about for a bit then come tumbling out the sky as if it had no bones, just flopping about like an empty sack, only to hit the ground and do nothing. He did this over and over for about 15 minutes. It was like the giant was having a great laugh. When i tried to join in on the fun though, he put me in the sky as well and as i was going down, my poor horse was going up. I ended up on the floor almost vomiting from laughter.

But its just not right.
