Fixed "GL_ARB_draw_elements_base_vertex not found" P

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 12:10 pm

So I bought this game a few days ago, and only today was I actually able to play the game!!!!

Here is what I did to solve the problem

Computer Specs:

Sony Vaio Laptop Model: VPCCW22FX
Processor: Intel i3 330M
Memory: 4GB RAM
Video Card: Nvidia GT 330M

Solution:

Go to this website: http://blog.komeil.com/2010/04/nvidia-driver-windows-7-notebook-laptop.html

Steps from the Web Site Above:

  • Get the Nvidia Reference Verde Notebook drivers (I got 280.26 WHQL and they work)
  • Download the INF from a website found on the page linked above
  • Replace the default INF with the one you downloaded before into the unpacked nvidia driver location (Usually C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\280.26\WinVista_Win7_64\International\Display.Driver\)
  • Re-run the Nvidia Driver Setup ( run setup.exe in the folder: C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\280.26\WinVista_Win7_64\International)
  • Reboot, and enjoy RAGE!!!

http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/ offers the same thing. They also keep up to date with each driver so that is what you should bookmark. There is one caveat in installing desktop drivers on laptops however: usually the power management features of your laptop don't work as they should after. It's not anything actually bad, it just means that you won't get as much battery life as you would with a proper mobile driver.

Hey, I was having the "GL_ARB_draw_elements_base_vertex not available" problem too. My laptop just has dedicated graphics, but runs other games pretty well, is there any way to fix this, or should I just stick with my consoles for gaming?

Well for integrated graphics you should try to get the latest drivers. I believe id now when they said it was the video drivers that were at fault, at least to some degree. There are some other issues that are probably their new engine's fault.

ATI laptops, hmmm you should try to find the ATI quickfix and see if that works for your laptop video card. I hear it has worked for other people, that and updating to the latest beta drivers.

I am not sure if ATI had the same problem as the Nvidia drivers I was downloading, which said: "no compatible hardware was found" or something like that when trying to run the setup.exe install program.

Sorry I cannot be more helpful, it seems like it is a system-dependent problem.
