Storage?

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 4:33 pm

Do we know anything about storage yet? Will it be like Oblivion, where your stuff disappears, or Fallout, where most containers are safe?
Seems like it may take some effort to get a PC house, so I'm wondering if we can establish a safe stash somewhere before we become landowners.

Containers will respawn so they are confirmed to be NOT safe, but in Oblivion we had that tree stump till a certain point so i am hoping for something like that as well!

I'll definitely be checking on here and the wiki to see if containers are safe. No doubt there will be a list of sorts up fairly quick after release. I don't think there's been any official info as of yet though.

Containers in your own home should be safe as well.

Finding the cheapest house in Skyrim will be the top priority so to have a safe haven and a place in which to stash loot. :user:

I find it really, really hard to believe they haven't included a bank/safe/void storage system in Skyrim.

The closest house to the starting location that I know of is in Whiterun, and costs 5000 gold coins.

Cheapest is likely in Riften since it has been described as a somewhat "run down" place!

Then the pc version and the editor come out on Friday we will get a list of safe storage.
Wonder how respawn works in Skyrim? Like Oblivion with three days out of cell or something more advanced.

I used to stash stuff in a cave in Morrowind before I got a house. While I'm glad stuff in the chests and containers respawn, as it should be a fluid world after all, it would be nice to find a safe-haven out in the wild somewhere. I'll be looking.

Personal homes are never safe, guards always get in. Unless in Skyrim they can't, which would be a really great addition.

There's a certain cabin, with a certain mage, with a certain number of useful things. Lots of chests, too. Just gotta deal with the mage first.

Um...guards can't enter your home. They wouldn't unless you attacked them and they chased you into your house.

Early on, one of the Dev's said that it is not safe storing things in containers you don't own. Implying that it will be safe to store things in containers you do own.

The safest method of all other than buying a house is finding a Quest Corpse and keeping everything inside it.

Out of interest, will the SetOwnership console command still work to make containers safe?

I heard from someone playing a leaked copy of the game that he found 14 non-respawning containers.

It doesn't matter as long as I have some place to store my stuff. I tend to be a 'pack mule' kind of player. :) And I tend to grow sentimentally attached to the gear I used, even if it's no longer the best available.

Yeah, so do I (hence the thread). I kept my Oblivion starting gear in a place of honor.
