How many quests in total are there? Todd says...

Infinite.
Apparently the raidaint quest system will continue to generate random quests, even in factions that you have completed! This is according to this article

Nobody wants to do a dozen or so repeating quest (Save X from Y, Deliver Z to W, Slay Q, help M find M)

radiant repeating quest stand out like a soar thumb, nothing a dragonborn has time to bother with.

Actually I think the opposite. Those quests are awesome after you finish the normal quests and just want to RP. They give us stuff to do after everything is over.

Exactly, I'm sure that's wha the design team had in mind. Very VERY few people are going to finish every single scripted quest in the game before beating the MQ, and those that do probably aren't even bothering with the MQ at all lol at least not with that character.

Random quests combined with the solid helping of scripted quests you didn't do before you beat the MQ will make for a fantastic post-main-story experience, something I think is severly lacking in most RPGs to date (only the Star Ocean series comes to mind when I think about any RPGs that actually still have some decently cool [censored] to do after you beat the game).

According to the xbox 360 achievement list, there are "miscelaneous objectives". Im guessing these are the randomly generated quests ^_^

I think the radiant system is great, but no doubt the quests will be more shallow than the scripted MQ/ side quests.

the radiant system will probably spawn quests that are a little MMO'ish. Deliver ring A to person B in city C. Collect 10 flowers from the forest , ...

Maybe I'm wrong though. Surprise me Bethesda ....

Awesome and very good for roleplaying. I have wanted these ever since Morrowind, which I think has a MWSE mod that does something like this.

On the contrary, I think that it is too much to expect every single quest to be unique. Also, if you in the Companions (Fighters Guild) then I would bet that tjhey would get contracts to protect travellers all the time, for example, therefore allowing for the repetition of the Radiant Story quests.

I agree with you. I don't think infinite unique quests is possible, even if they patched in more and more quests they will eventually start to repeat themselves.

It seems to me that one of the main reasons behind this is to help tell all of the little stories that are in an EDS game. Oh, you haven't found that cool cave where an enchanter was doing experiments, lets send you there. Even after all of the scripted quests are done there are still going to be little side stories hidden in little nooks and crannys.
