[REQ] Slower leveling

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 7:53 pm

Hello folks

so the game is awesome - no question

The only problem I have is that you leveling by far too fast.
Ive searched nexus but found only two mods which are in an alpha phase.

Imo leveling should me made slower by about 4 times if not even 6 times.

What do you think?

Are there any possibilities to made it without the creation kit?

Definitely agree. I was about level 10 when I came to Whiterun.

Also, it would be nice if we needed 10 skill increases to level up instead of 5, but got 2 perks each level-up instead. That way the level-ups would have more impact.

Ok, so this mod slowes the leveling speed but it also "steals" some perk points.

I think a simple mod slowing down 4x-6x the progress speed not more would be the best

If I understand correctly you want it to slow skill progress, which will in turn slow leveling, rather than increasing the skill points needed to level which in turn reduces the maximum level and your total perk points. Is that right?

If so, my guess is that you'll have to wait for the CS to come out. In the past we were able to adjust the variables for skill increases. Each skill had a variable to control how fast or slow the skill increased from using the skill.

Slower skill gain (more skill-uses per skill-increase)
http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=49

Slower leveling (more skill-increases per level)
http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=175

Work very well together.

Ah never saw the first one before, just the one that required additional skill increases to level, which of course had the already discussed drawbacks. Thanks for the links, JOG.

Yeah, one of the mods takes away some of your skill perks, the other mod is barely noticeable especially when skills are under 50. I'm playing with both mods and have only explored the area around Whiterun with my main character... he's already 18th level. I'm doing everything possible to avoid leveling, but it doesn't seem like enough. Naturally I'm not power leveling alchemy, enchanting, or smithing. Nevertheless every cave raises me one or two levels. This game was meant for people who fast travel everywhere. There is so much content in Skyrim it seems like I'll be 50+ level for at least half of it. Anyways, those are just my thoughts, I don't have a very high level character so I can't say too much. :sadvaultboy:

I've done some more testing with the slower skill gain mod, and I think it should be good enough. http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=49

smithing
start slower default
lvl 25 31 35
lvl 50 52 56
