[WIPREQ] Conduit Magic for Skyrim

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 10:38 am

What Conduit Magic did for Oblivion was allowed you to cast spells THROUGH your weapon, costing Magicka just like you cast the spell yourself, dependent upon and raising the respective skill. I really enjoyed this mod and its added playstyle and would like to see it ported over to Skyrim. I'm even going to try it myself once the CK comes out.

Hmm, never heard of that mod before...

Anyway, I was just thinking the other day about an order of warrior mages that wield their staffs and can channel their magic through them. You could hit with them in melee, use them as range weapons (with what element that staff was enchanted) and block. The melee block will also create a ward at the same time, so you are protected from both melee and magic. All of these will have to be 'fueled' by your magicka pool and not by a soul enchantment.

What about "channeling staves" that essentially allow you to dual-cast one spell through them to increase the effectiveness even further? It would be exactly like dual-casting, except the staff would have charges like all other staves, and each cast would take up one charge as well as the Magicka cost. It's one way to give a needed boost to Magic.

Well this mod require OBSE in Oblivion, if Skyrim scripting was enhanced and have certain features of script extenders thats will be possible make such mod before SKSE will be done, otherwise need to wait.

Maybe, but I don't know how it should work yet since magic in Skyrim works differently.

Yes!!! I loved that mod and the Weapon Magic mod in Oblivion. Really made Spellswords, Battlemages and other hybrid classes distinct from any other classes.

It didn't always require OBSE, it's just generally easier to code in OBSE.

Well, I was modding Conduit Magic and figured out a way to do it without OBSE, just with less features. I seem to recall a very early version didn't require it, but I could be thinking of a similar mod. Let's just hope the scripting features of Skyrim are extended to start with.
